Here's a "unique" projection of the 2020 Field of 68 using NCAA Tournament data (appearances/wins) since the 1999-00 season. I straight S-curved the field, with the exception that inter-conference matchups are not allowed in the 1st round, hence, #38 NC State/#39 Kansas State were switched so that Pitt would not play NC State. In addition, I protected the #1-16 seeds as much as possible by their 1st- and 2nd-round placements.

Surprised Wichita State didn't make it.

Surprised Wichita State didn't make it.

Were in last year, but dropped out because of no NCAA appearance this season. Shockers have 8 appearances since 2000, the current cutoff is 9. Utah State ("first team out") only school with 9 appearances to miss the cut
