Coaching Candidates

As I said at the end of last year, the time to make a move was then. If we had done that, we'd be in the NCAA tournament this year and whoever the new coach was would have some momentum. Instead we waited. Now you are trying to hire a coach for a program that is losing it's best player and is coming off not one, but two horrible seasons.

Musselman was willing to interview for Cal last year, will he interview at Minnesota after raising his profile further this season? It's a moot point if either UCLA or Arizona wants him anyways. Hopefully, Coyle has a plan because the job is less attractive on paper than it was a year ago and there is more competition in the marketplace.

Yeah. I'm afraid we missed the boat on Muss.

Think that we could get Dan Marjle from Grand Canyon University?

As with Marc Trestman, I assume there's a reason no one has tried this in 19 years...

I always thought everyone who suggested trestman was unintelligent.
Then the Chicago bears hired him and confirmed it

Just because Trestman couldn’t win in the NFL doesn’t mean that Smart can’t win in the NCAA

I would love Muss...especially if he brings back Dad's pre-game show. I'd go just to watch that

2 names only

Musselman
Hoiberg

And I'm not sure Houberg would be a good choice as he wouldn't be here long

I’d love Muss or Oats. So would most teams looking for a coach. Why come here? Bottom of the conference. No sustained success.

I heard Rick Pitino was available.

Great university. Great city. Affordable. Clean. Safe. Good family city.

Returning talent - proven freshmen, talented upperclassmen, potentially talented transfers that will become eligible next year.

Big Ten Conference.

Please don’t apply to be on the search committee.

Coyle will strike quickly.

Motzko, Whalen, and Fleck are examples.

Unless he spits when he talks, we’re not interested.

It will be an interesting 4 weeks

Here are some former Gophers whose names I like.

Ernest Nzigamasabo
Jamal Abu Shamala
Jim Shikenjanski
Russ Archambault
Zebedee Howell
Kyle Sanden
John Blair-Bickerstaff

Not sure if any coach other than JB however. But good names.

-Ben Jacobson
-Eric Mussleman
-JB Bickerstaff (if Memphis was to make a change for whatever reason)
-TJ Otzelberger from South Dakota St
-Nate Oats
-Jon Scheyer... had to.

I doubt they'd consider him but..... Kelvin Sampson?

Money. Despite being mediocre at best in both revenue sports Mn is top 25 in revenue, thanks to the btn. open up the pocket books and coaches will listen.

Interesting....he was in Rochester with Coach K a few weeks ago...and I believe he is a midwest guy....Chicago??? I kind of thought he might be groomed to be Coach K's replacement now though.
