In terms of B1G records only, Gophers in 4 way tie (8-7) for 5th place.

Above them:
Maryland and Iowa (12-3) tied for 1st.
Rutgers 3rd (9-4).
Michigan 4th (9-6).

Who would the Gophers most likely catch for 4th place? Rutgers have 5 games left, one of them against the Gophers. Michigan and Rutgers play each other. Michigan owns 2-way tiebreaker with Gophers. There could be multi-team tiebreaker situations with Purdue, NW, and OSU. What a mess.

For the B1G Tournament the tie breakers (record versus the 8-7 group) for the four 8-7 teams would place them:

5. Purdue (4-1) .800
6. Minnesota (3-2) .600
7. Ohio State (1-2) .333
8. Northwestern (1-4) .200

So I’m guessing the best route would be to hope Rutgers keeps losing (even against Michigan), and hope Purdue loses enough that they don’t end up in a tie with the Gophers.

Given how tight it may be with all the 9 win, 8 win and 7 win teams, we may not know final seedings until the end of action on March 3. Can't imagine the poor person at the Big Ten office who might have to deal with all the tie breaker possibilities.

Spots 12, 13 and 14 do appear to be set. And Maryland and Iowa will likely be the #1 and #2 seeds.

Gophers just need to keep on winning!
