Default Fox News Survey: Soak the rich? Most Republicans say go for it

    .
    .
Fox News survey shows that 71 percent of Americans and 54 percent of Republicans favor raising taxes on those earning over $10 million

The prospect of 70 percent tax rates for multimillionaires and special levies on the super-rich draw howls about creeping socialism and warnings of economic disaster in much of Washington.

But polling suggests that when it comes to soaking the rich, the American public is increasingly on board.

Nice title! Most Republicans.....! Then we find out the 54% of Rs lack any analytical brainpower, while 85% of Dems lack any analytical brainpower.

Socialism is a failed model. Couched in terms to lull people to sleep (hey let's try socialism just on people you don't know) it is still a failure.

I think you should start out by reading the story of the Little Red Hen and then work your way up from there.

This survey isn’t a surprise. The issue is that the top 10% already pay 80% of the Federal income taxes, the top 1% pay 40% of Federal income taxes, and the lower 50% only pay 3% for Federal income tax. We already have significantly progressive tax rates.

The question is an overly simplistic question to provide any substantive indication, without any other information or perspective, of what Americans think the rates are or should be for high income earners relative to lesser income levels. For example, if the surveyed knew the facts that I stated above, I expect this would lower the percent of people that say higher income should pay more.

In addition, if a growing majority of people have less and less ‘skin in the game’ when it comes to paying for Federal spending, it’s incentive for the Federal government to grow beyond its appropriate and fiscally responsible level. I will assure you that most taxpayers have a much greater concern about wasteful and inappropriate spending than citizens that pay little or no taxes. The majority of people need to share in responsibility to pay for the Federal government’s spending.

The top 10% should be paying 90+% and the top 1% should be paying 50+%.

Howie, G4L is a good example of how the Democrat Party is changing.

Young. Stupid. Far Left. Irrational. Don’t value the Constitution. And never admit that they’re wrong.

Easier to educate the young and irrational then to get angry old men to change their ways.

Who is angry? We hold the executive office and the Senate. I think you’re the angry ones.

.....Leaving the bottom 50% -60% to have no responsibility whatsoever. So you have more than half the country voting for more benefits from the half who paid for them! Brilliant! That's very close to the current quandry we are in. Hence we have politicians (mostly Dems) pandering for votes from those who pay nothing into the system but want more rights and free stuff. What do they do to get these votes? They offer more stuff with no additional responsibility added. And that's how you end up with broken systems and 21 trillion in debt.

It's not. Right now the top 10% pays about 71% of the burden. The top 1% pay 39% of the taxes while pulling in 29% of the income. But greedy people like G_4L want more given to them. What a mooch.

The argument of "The top X percent already pay Y percent" is turning into an incriminating statement of itself.

Once pointed at as a proud way to show how the rich carry the burden of our tax system, it's getting to the point that it's become evident that not only are they the only one's paying taxes, they are also the only ones participating in the major leagues of capitalism.

US Billionaires own an equivalent of 12.6% of our country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). (About 1900 households).

Of economies with GDP's of over $1 trillion, that's the 2nd most concentrated of any country.

    #1 being Russia.

Abolish the income tax. We need a consumption based tax.
