I'm not a Republican, not listening to their conventions & am not obsessed with race or skin color.

If they choose a qualified minority from a field of several good candidates, that's not racism. It's a cheap attempt by the GOP to deflect attention away from their massive demographic problem.

Most minorities and people under 40 see the GOP for what it is. And you can't shame or "gotcha" them into changing their mind. You'll have to actually change what the GOP is about. Do they want to be the party of fiscal conservatism and "personal freedom" or the party of old white men trying desperately to make it 1950 again and keep it that way. I'm afraid that party civil war has already happened and it was a blow out. Your side won. Congrats.

I am actually surprised at how many young people I come across today that are Republican leaning. The only obvious left leaning people that I encounter these days, at least as far as younger generation, are academic Bachelor of Arts type people. I can't think of anyone off the top of my head that has a Bachelor of Science degree or a degree that teaches you how to think instead of TELLING you how to think that is a Liberal. Not a one really.
You must not know many people with degrees then. Though there is a difference between "disgusted and repulsed by the current GOP" and "Liberal." I fall into the former as do many that The Fellas of Gopherhole classify as "Liberals" "Leftists" and "Socialists."

Lol. Please. You love Trump, which makes you a Republican. He is the party now.

If he can reform the party in his image, then I will gladly become a Republican. The GOP I've despised for the past 45 years has no draw for me. Run a Mitt Romney type in 2024 & I'm back to voting 3rd party.

You mean the party that supported all the same policies but just wasn’t fronted by a sundowning sack of mayonnaise who watches cable news all day? You like the party now that the veneer is off because you’re a rube, plain and simple.

No Jammer, I mean a party that actually cuts taxes, brings back manufacturing, works for Main St, enforces the border, defeats ISIS, renegotiates NAFTA, opts out of the Paris Climate fiasco, exposes MSM bias, social media bias & fights to overturn Obamcare. That's definitely not who the GOP has been during my adult life. If this is the new GOP under Trump, count me in.

Iím a traditional conservative Republican, but I canít argue with the above. Bush and Boehner used to live in fear of the opposition party and the MSM and tried to lay low of criticism. As ill-mannered of a President as Trump is at times, he has taught the Republicans that you can fight back and be aggressive instead of getting your @ss handed to you and taking it. Personally, I think McConnell is a fighter though, as witnessed by his actions with keeping the SC Justice position on the line for the 2016 election, though he is much more of a strategic fighter.

McConnell's a fighter. The question at times is who's he fighting for? There are times he's clearly fighting to MAGA & there are times he seems to be fighting for the CoC & the corporations. Watch him carefully on the China tariffs & the USMCA vote. The CoC under Tom Donahue, which is the corporate lobbying/slush fund, will be going all-in to keep the current arrangements in place & they're counting on McConnell to publicly oppose Trump. Who will McConnell side with, America or the corporations?
