EDIT: obviously it is serious, what I meant was I hope it is something where by quitting football he can significantly reduce the risk of whatever the problem is.
 

Sounds like it is serious and therefore he needs to look out for himself so that he'll have a quality life for many years.

I believe he qualifies for Medical Exemption. He will retain his scholarship before his career ending health issue(s), but his scholarship will not count against the 85 limit.
 

Get healthy Royal, get that degree, and have a great life!

Get that degree!! Just get *A* degree. Having it on your resume will open doors.
 

That is unfortunate for the team as he would have been part of the D-Line rotation next year but certainly can't fault anyone for putting their health first. Hopefully whatever it is he is dealing with is something he can recover from and won't be with him long term.
