All Things Riley Mahlman Recruitment Thread (Class of 2021, Gophers Offered)

In his latest Scoops Podcast, Doogie said that the Gophers informally offered Riley his freshman year and then more formally offered this past November. Doogie than states: "Here is what's weird though, on Riley's Twitter page he publicizes all of his offers, he publicized Iowa State offer, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, but he never publicized when the Gophers offered."

Great start Bleed for Mahlman's thread. Much appreciated. Long time before signing date for him. Gophers, we just need to continue to turn the program around and win. Can be done!

We had a big miss with Lakeville on Bryce Benhart. Hopefully, the Gophers have better luck with Riley.

OT's like his size are in high demand. They know they can pretty much pick and choose where to go.

My scouting report:

--He has a great frame and is athletic for a big kid.
--Started at TE as a freshman
--Played both ways as soph
--Needs to get a lot stronger for the trenches
--Needs to play with a lower pad level
--Benhart destroyed him in the semis (imo...Benhart destroyed him more than he destroyed the average HS kid; Mahlman is much taller than the avg HS kid which enabled Benhart to dominate due to his lower pad level. Many "normal" size DL would often turtle to prevent movement from Benhart. Mahlman played him straight up...due to lack of strength and a higher pad level....it was ugly!
--Decent genes (Dad played OL at SCSU; Mom played VB at SCSU)

He will get stronger and pack on weight! Hopefully, he will develop more into an OL body than his current basketball body. Obviously, from all the offers, the experts are not worried about him growing into that OL body.

I'm 65 and I still laugh (privately of course) to almost all humor in that vein.
I'm 69 and this is shaping up to be the best year of my life... [emoji39]

Mahlman recently picked up tOSU and Sparty. (7 total now)

Word is N. Dame is his favorite to date; however, no offer from them.
