Minnesota kicker Emmit Carpenter competed in the Tropical Bowl on Sunday in Daytona Beach, Fla. The All-Big Ten kicker connected on a 50-yard field goal and made his lone extra point in front of NFL scouts.

Carpenter made 53-of-67 career field goals and his 79.1 field goal conversion rate ranks first in school history (minimum 25 attempts). His 53 career field goals ranks third all-time at Minnesota and he ended his career with 276 points, which is second all-time in school history for all players.

Carpenter made 31-of-40 field goals at TCF Bank Stadium, 19-of-23 on the road and was 3-of-4 in neutral-site games. The 2016 Big Ten Kicker of the Year made 117-of-118 career point-after attempts (117 is second most all-time) and ended his career with 80 consecutive PATs (second most of all-time).

As a senior, Carpenter made 17-of-23 field goals and 43 point-after attempts. He led Minnesota with 94 points and was named Academic All-Big Ten for the third time in his career.

I hope he gets his shot.

He’ll get a shot. All top level kickers have basically the same abilities. It’s all about surviving the short term memories of fans and coaches.

He'll definitely get some looks. Great career and fantastic 2016 season...which probably spoiled us as fans.

Like Emmit, but last season he was the 98th most accurate kicker by % in the NCAA. Not sure if that will take him to the next level.
If he can get back to his sophomore year % of 91.7, maybe he has a shot. His last 2 years his % was an average of about 72%.

Definitely a positive Wins Above Replacement.

He never lost us a game. Definitely helped us win a couple.

Just for fun I looked back at his 3 years of playing and there really weren't very many close games. Certainly no close losses where kicking really came into play at all. Lots of big wins and big losses for the most part.

He missed a super important kick against Ohio State this past year, but agree that he was usually a reliable kicker.
