University of Minnesota kicker Emmit Carpenter has accepted an invitation to play in the Tropical Bowl. The game will be played at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13 at Daytona Stadium in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Carpenter made 53-of-67 career field goals and his 79.1 field goal conversion rate ranks first in school history (minimum 25 attempts). His 53 field goals ranks third all-time at Minnesota and he ended his career with 276 points, which is second all-time in school history for all players.

Carpenter made 31-of-40 field goals at TCF Bank Stadium, 19-of-23 on the road and was 3-of-4 in neutral-site games. The 2016 Big Ten Kicker of the Year made 117-of-118 career point-after attempts (117 is second most all-time) and ended his career with 80 consecutive PATs (second most of all-time).

As a senior, Carpenter made 17-of-23 field goals and 43 point-after attempts. He led Minnesota with 94 points and was named Academic All-Big Ten for the third time in his career.

I hear the Bears are sending their entire scouting team, coaching staff and front office.

Vikings could use a kicker too...but it is fun to finally see a division rival deal with it too.

Vikes had a decent kicker but decided to try and be smart by getting a cheap 5th round draft pick kicker- completely blew it. Another example of Spielman thinking he's smarter than he is.
