Go Gophers!!

Seriously? We won a lot of basketball games in the late 80's/early 90's?

Hallelujah!

Football has won in Madison 5 times since 1972

True. But 4 of them were 1994 and before. Something of a coincidence as we held our own in both sports until 1993 or so.

It's about time the pendulum swings the other way...hopefully, this happens much more consistently.

What an insane stat. Even considering we play every other year in Madison in football, and not every year in Madison in basketball.

For comparison/perspective, anyone know how many times Wisconsin has accomplished the same feat since 1973 (winning in fball/bball same year in Minneapolis?

We won there in basketball on 2/12/94 and in football on 10/22/94. I guess that’s technically not the same season but it is in the same year.

Wow that is a depressing stat. On the flip side, I wonder how many times Wisconsin has won in Minneapolis in football and basketball in that same time period? Maybe like 8 times (please nobody look it up, I actually regret seeing this stat and would like to enjoy the win), I guess it's good that it finally happened but just when you think you've heard the most depressing stat about the pathetic state of the two programs I care most about there is always one to top it. Hopefully the shoe can be on the other foot for the second half of my lifetime.

Well of course I had to look it up. It has happened five times since 1973, with all instances happening since the 1999/2000 season (essentially at Dick Bennett's peak and Bo Ryan's arrival.) Wisconsin basketball was largely abysmal before that.

2015/2016 season (Football W 31-21, Basketball W 62-49)
2011/2012 season (Football W 42-13, Basketball W 68-61)
2007/2008 season (Football W 41-34, Basketball W 63-47)
2005/2006 season (Football W 38-34, Basketball W 64-62)
1999/2000 season (Football W 20-17, Basketball W 66-64)
