Shooter: Does anybody know what “Ski-U-Mah” on the back of helmets really means?

Shows you how much Shooter pays attention to Gopher Country.

i think the Tribal Nations Plaza means we're at peace...

Happy New Year...

Part of the agreement with the U Mah Ski area for their sponsorship. Everybody knows that.

It seems it really means nothing in the Dakota language. From Wikipedia, what the students may have actually heard (and wouldn’t “Oh-hee-yah” be nice?)

Other Dakota-Lakota words or phrases that have been suggested for what Adams heard include:

"Schkee ooh poh!" or "Scheee ooh!"
Scheeh/scheen-shay, which means "Try Hard"
Oh-hee-yah, which means "To win"
Oh-hee-un-yum, oh-hee-oohn-yum, which means "We won"

Literally translated it means, "get that damn oar off the helmet!"

Has everyone forgotten that it is a tribute to the great nordic ski teams we had in the 1800's! We won 23 National Championships in a row, but that ended with the death of the great skier Moose Mah from Eveleth.
