Wondering if anyone else noticed how massive Winfield looked at the bowl game?

Foot injury clearly isn't keeping him from hitting upper body, starting to look like LaRon Landry. Opposing offenses be warmed...
 

I think he is one of the best athletes to ever play for the gophers. I'm afraid I also think he'll never stay healthy for a whole season. If I were him I'd stop doing punt returns and any extra stuff and just focus on playing defense and staying on the field. It hurts me to say that because I'd love to see them use playmakers like him multiple ways.
 

There are plenty of new talent in the house with the recent recruiting classes. I agree. Keep him focus on the defense secondary.

That may be true but the extra hits, running, stress on the body may make him more susceptible to injuries during other parts of the game, vs resting on the bench during those times. I'm not sure what makes some people more injury prone than others but he seems to have the bug and if he wants to play in the NFL he needs to do everything he can to try n stay healthy.

A body can only take so much abuse. Repeated hitting will eventually wear the body down. I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule but overall I believe he needs to take care of his body for the long haul.
 

Sherels just went down on special teams. I don't think he was the returner even, I think he was a gunner on a punt.

He's such a dynamic returner, I think I'd rather have him sit out a couple plays on defense.

The injury rate is highest on special teams though. Douglas is good enough to not risk Winfield out there.
