33. Quick Lane Bowl: Georgia Tech (7-5) vs. Minnesota (6-6) – 5:15 p.m., Dec. 27, ESPN

Georgia Tech has the chance to send Paul Johnson out with a win in Detroit. After 11 seasons, Johnson is stepping aside after the bowl game having accumulated a 82-59 record with the Jackets along the way. Minnesota had big wins over Purdue and rival Wisconsin late in the year to reach its first bowl under second-year coach P.J. Fleck.

Go Gophers!!

Not sure why these are more stimulating match-ups.

11. Liberty Bowl: No. 23 Missouri (8-4) vs. Oklahoma State (6-6)

12. New Mexico Bowl: Utah State (10-2) vs. North Texas (9-3)

16. Armed Forces Bowl: Houston (8-4) vs. Army (9-2)

17. Dollar General Bowl: Troy (9-3) vs. Buffalo (10-3)

19. New Orleans Bowl: Middle Tennessee (8-5) vs. Appalachian State (10-2)

21. Boca Raton Bowl: Northern Illinois (8-5) vs. UAB (10-3)

25. Independence Bowl: Duke (7-5) vs. Temple (8-4)

26. Arizona Bowl: Arkansas State (8-4) vs. Nevada (7-5)

29. Camellia Bowl: Georgia Southern (9-3) vs. Eastern Michigan (7-5)

31. Bahamas Bowl: Florida International (8-4) vs. Toledo (7-5)

I mean, other than Arkansas State vs Nevada... what a rivalry that game has been.

I don't get OU vs Bama at #1. Has any Alabama game been interesting after the half?

Texas / Georgia they have as #3 and well, Maryland beat Texas.
And Georgia was possibly going to be in the CFP.
Any guesses who wins?

Notre Dame / Clemson is a better matchup than Bama, OU.

Syracuse vs West Virginia is #5.

That’s a pretty underwhelming list of bowl matchups. All in all, 2018 has proven to be a forgettable season across the entire landscape.

A lot of it has to do with bowl affiliation.

Money sponsors and the Bowl Selection Committee want certain stipulations about match ups. That is how they end up divvying the bowls.

Great for non P5 teams, but so much for lower tier P5 teams.

32. Quick Lane Bowl – Minnesota (6-6) vs. Georgia Tech (7-5)

Dec. 26 – 5:15 p.m. ET, ESPN

Minnesota finished the regular season on a high note, beating rival Wisconsin for the first time since 2003, lifting coach P.J. Fleck’s team to a bowl game in his second year in Minneapolis. This will be the final game for Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson, who has decided to retire after the end of this season. The Yellow Jackets lead the nation in rushing offense (334.9 ypg) and present a tough matchup with their flexbone option attack. The additional time to prepare will help Fleck’s defense, which is allowing 170.7 rushing yards a game this fall. Minnesota isn’t as prolific on the ground, but Mohamed Ibrahim (936 yards) and Bryce Williams (500) form a solid one-two punch. Receiver Tyler Johnson might be one of the Big Ten’s most underrated players. Considering this is their head coach’s last game, Georgia Tech should be motivated.

Minnesota vs GT will get eyes on ESPN because of the markets they are from.
You rank games that won’t get eyes higher so they can get eyes.

The article isn’t an article. It is an advertisement for games on their own network.

Wait what? Why is yahoo doing free advertising for ESPN

I get Missouri vs Oklahoma State, but not the others you list.

A lot of people - including media outlets - are not going to do an in-depth analysis of the match-ups, etc in each contest.

They look at the records 1st. The Quick Lane bowl has a 6-6 team against a 7-5 team. the only "hooks" are 1st bowl for Gophers under Fleck, and Johnson coaching his last game for GT.

All of the games Face listed involve teams with better records. there may be times when the "no respect" card is valid, but I don't think this is one of those times.

Chicago Tribune:

18. Quick Lane Bowl (Georgia Tech vs. Minnesota, Dec. 26, 4:15 p.m., ESPN)

One last chance to watch Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson call plays bumps this game up a few spots. Johnson, who is stepping down at season's end, has led the Yellow Jackets (7-5) to victories in three of their past four postseason games.

CBS Sports has it at #37....?

I swear, the link I posted to yesterday had it at 12 but it was a totally different article than this one.

I take it back about CBS.
