The Big Ten Conference announced six Gophers players were named All-Big Ten selections on defense and special teams.

Rush end Carter Coughlin was named All-Big Ten Second Team by the coaches and media. Coughlin tied for the Big Ten lead with 9.5 sacks and tallied 15 tackles for loss.

Linebacker Blake Cashman was selected as All-Big Ten second team by the media and third team by conference coaches. Cashman was also named Minnesota’s recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. He led the team with 104 tackles, recorded 15 tackles for loss and forced one fumble.

In addition, defensive back Jacob Huff was awarded an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection by the coaches and media. Huff recorded 85 tackles, broke up seven passes, forced two fumbles and grabbed two interceptions.

On special teams, kicker Emmit Carpenter and punter Jacob Herbers were named to the All-Big Ten Honorable Mention list and Demetrius Douglas earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention by the media. Carpenter made 15 of his 20 field goals and Herbers averaged 41.24 yards on 51 punts. Douglas averaged 16.14 yards on punt returns and took one the distance for a 69-yard touchdown at Wisconsin.

The Big Ten will announce offensive selections on Wednesday. Wide receiver Tyler Johnson will likely be selected to the first or second team group.

Remember when some said IL just had more talent on Offense than we had on D?
