A 55-31 loss to a hapless Illinois team a week ago was perhaps the low point of Fleck’s two-year tenure at Minnesota. But he followed it up in a big way Saturday, leading his Gophers to a big 41-10 win over Purdue. His defense, in its first game under interim coordinator Joe Rossi, held off a Purdue offense that had scored 38+ points in four of its previous five conference games, including a 49-20 win over then-No. 2 Ohio State. Now with two games to play -- against Northwestern and Wisconsin -- Minnesota needs just one more win to become bowl eligible.
