Excludes games vs. Non-Division I opponents.

1 Boston College (2-0) -- beat Milwaukee & Saint Francis-NY

2 Washington (2-1) -- beat Western Kentucky & San Diego, lost by 22 @ Auburn

3 Texas A&M (1-1) -- beat Savannah State, lost by 1 to UC-Irvine.

4 Utah (1-1) -- beat Maine

5 Arkansas State (0-1) -- lost by 21 @ Abilene Christian

6 Oklahoma State (0-1) -- lost by 2 @ Charlotte

7 Omaha (0-1)

8 Santa Clara (0-1) -- lost by 17 at home to Prairie View A&M

9 Mount Saint Mary's (0-2) -- lost by 50 @ NC State & by 18 @ Hofstra

10 North Florida (0-2) -- lost by 8 @ Dayton & by 15 @ Penn State

11 North Carolina A&T (0-3) -- lost by 8 at home to NC-Greensboro, by 12 @ Wake Forest & by 23 @ Maryland

Totals: 6-14 (30%)

Early read seems to indicate North Florida (UNF) is the best opponent remaining on the home schedule. If Curry is out the full 6 weeks from the time of his knee surgery, this is the game (Dec. 21) I'd expect him to return.

Yep.

Once this current stretch is over, those last 4 games (Ark State, UNF, NC A&T, MSM) prior to the rest of the Big Ten season should give Pitino ample time to get some other guys substantial minutes and hopefully more confidence. Thinking most specifically of Stull and Omersa.

Washington also almost lost last night to San Diego...non conference isn't looking great so far.

San Diego is no slouch this year. Most have them projected to finish 3rd or 4th in the WCC. They return four starters from last year. Solid mid-major this year...

That isn't a bad thing in my opinion. Might not help us a ton at tournament time but for a team breaking in a bunch of freshman in key roles it is good to not get overly tested early. Plus it gives Coffey a chance to get acclimated to running the point without going against super tough opponents.

All we can do is take care of the business in front of us and things will fall into place.

Still going to be a tough stretch coming up. They play 9 games in 24 days starting Sunday. Not a fan of the Oklahoma St game being less than 48 hours prior to the Big Ten opener, especially when they have to travel to Ohio St.

It would certainly seem to be based on history. Prairie View has only 2 winning seasons this century. But, they beat Santa Clara on the road by 17 and they lost by only 11 at Baylor. Even a perennially bad program can have a much better than expected team once in awhile.

Thanks for putting this together Selection Excellent work as always.

baylor also lost to Texas Southern

Our acc opponent lost IUPUI-DevryTech. Great

Our "P5" opponents are taking on bad losses. Holy crap. My guess is we'll end up with an OOC SoS in the 250's+

Nah, not even close. The volume of major opponents on here will ensure that won't happen. Gophers may benefit in perception from a schedule that looks stronger by brand names than it might actually be.

Still real early.

I just read that Texas A&M was without both of their starting guards the first two games, and they most likely wont play tonight against Gonzaga. Something to watch for as they finally might be at full strength next week during the Vancouver Showcase.

Gonzaga 94, A&M 71.

Aggies kept it close for a half.

Geno Crandall with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists in 23 minutes.

I hear what you are saying, but a weak OOC always leaves me concerned about how ready we are when big ten season starts.

I hear what you are saying, but a weak OOC always leaves me concerned about how ready we are when big ten season starts.

I wonder how much this matters. If you play all terrible teams in your non-conference schedule, I get it, but it isn't like the Gophers have lined up 13 opponents we've never heard of.

Texas A&M, Washington, Utah, Boston College and Oklahoma St would all (most likely) be able to compete in the Big Ten. I don't think any of them are great but that is 5 reasonable non-conference games. If those don't prepare you for Ohio State and Nebraska then there are other issues.

Make no mistake, our non conference schedule will be a detriment to our overall sos. However, I am becoming less concerned because the big ten has been the most impressive conference thus far in preseason play, especially the middle tier teams. With two more conference games I don’t think we will have any issue racking up resume building wins.

Yikes... who would've thought a 5 game schedule that included Utah, Texas A&M, Santa Clara & Washington would rank us dead last in every schedule category at this point... Luckily, the B1G looks loaded this year which will significantly improve our schedule statistics as the season progresses.

This is great stuff, thanks. This seems to indicate the Gophers' non-conference schedule is headed toward being a negative -- not a positive -- if a certain committee happened to be evaluating it. Still, Washington & Ok State wins have pretty decent chance of ending up no worse than Quad 2.
