Back in Backyard

Phil Esten, the Lacrosse, WI native who has been at Penn State has been hired as AD at St. Thomas.

“The University of St. Thomas has a new Vice President and Director of Athletics.

Phil Esten ‘95 will return to his alma mater in January, bringing with him a breadth of experience from athletics leadership positions at Penn State University; the University of California, Berkeley; the University of Minnesota and The Ohio State University.”

Cool he's back in MN. I took a sports management course of his at the U. I liked him. He was a big proponent of getting an on campus stadium (obviously as he worked in the U athletic department). Would be interesting if he'd come back to the U for the right opportunity or maybe his alma mater is his dream job and final destination.

Maybe he'll push to have St. Thomas move to D1, that would be fun.
