Updated with Wisconsin Stats: Not much passing needed but the bulk of it found Johnson. Bateman should get over 50 catches on the year in the bowl game and although they will probably catch 1996 in terms of yards it will take them 2 extra games to do it. As a side note, CAB has pitched in a really solid 408 yards on 27 receptions, could be a heck of a 3 headed monster going into next year.

1996 - 11 games
Thelwell - 54 rec - 1,051 yards - 5 TD
Atwell - 62 rec - 822 yards - 6 TD
Total - 116 rec - 1,873 yards - 11 TD

2018 - through 12 games
Johnson - 74 rec - 1,112 yards - 10 TD
Bateman - 49 rec - 670 yards - 6 TD
Total - 123 rec - 1,782 yards - 16 TD

2003 - 13 games
Ellerson - 44 rec - 909 yards - 5 TD
Hosack - 51 rec - 814 yards - 8 TD
Total - 95 rec - 1,723 yards - 13 TD

2007 - 12 games
Decker - 67 rec - 909 yards - 9 TD
Wheelwright - 66 rec - 775 yards - 9 TD
Total - 133 rec - 1,684 yards - 18 TD

Ron Johnson was very productive, but I can't remember the other WR during that time.

No doubt the passing offense has been fun to watch this year and a significant improvement over what we have been accustomed to.

We're on a nice 11 year cycle. Hope everyone enjoyed this year :) See you in 2029

Johnson and Bateman are a great duo but I can't think of the last time we had as good of a #3 WR as Autman-Bell.

Found a duo from 2003 that broke up the cycle some....so you might have to come back before 2029 now :)

1999 Luke Leverson - each had about 500 yards
2000 Jermaine Mays & Jack Brewer had close to 500 combined with Johnson over 1000

Updated with the Purdue game. Didn't need a big game out of the receivers in this one but TJ still managed to have a nice day.

Added Northwestern. They moved past 2007 and should blow past 2003 next week.

I swear to god I don't remember Ernie Wheelwright being anywhere near those numbers. Clearly my perception is wrong, but it felt like he had under 20 catches every single year.

You have to remember 2007 was a move to the spread offense. And there was a lot of throwing to try and catch up.

He actually had over 20 catches in every single one of his seasons at the U but 2007 was his biggest year. Earnie was a very good receiver for us but he was always prone to dropping the easy ones. He would go make a circus catch but on a key third down the pass would hit him right in the hands and he would drop it.

Added the Wisconsin game. One more to go....
