CFN is first out of the gate:

What’s Going To Happen
Injuries and other issues have kept Minnesota from keeping the ground attack from rolling, but this is the week to get it all started again.

The Illinois defense has gone bye-bye. Minnesota isn’t exactly stopping anyone cold, but it should be able to keep the game in range to let the suddenly balanced attack to take over.

Illinois will run well, but the defense won’t come up with a meaningful third down stop.

Fearless Prediction & Line
Minnesota 38, Illinois 30

Go Gophers!!

Athlon chimes in with a more in-depth prediction:

Final Analysis

With the inconsistency on offense, struggles on defense, injuries, and Minnesota’s momentum, I just don’t see Illinois having enough to win this one despite the fact the Illini are .500 at home (2-2) this season. Illinois doesn't score enough points, can't stop opposing offenses, and the Golden Gophers are riding high after last week's win over Indiana. Look for Minnesota to take another step towards bowl eligibility by picking up a second straight conference win.

Prediction: Minnesota 28, Illinois 17

Go Gophers!!

I still think Illinois will be very tough on Saturday - no cake-walk. Don't be surprised if they are ahead in the first half.

" Illinois doesn't score enough points, can't stop opposing offenses" Not a recipe for winning

JEREMY WERNER PREDICTION
Minnesota 38, Illinois 34: Since before the season, I’ve thought this game was a big one for both programs to prove progress. Minnesota is coming off a stressful but nice win over Indiana. They’re probably feeling pretty positive. Meanwhile, during the last three weeks, Illinois has lost by an average of 32.7 points per game and its defensive coordinator just walked away. Coming into this season, I thought this game would be entertaining and a little crazy. But based on what I’ve seen the last three weeks, I just can’t pick Illinois to win this game — even though I still think the Illini have a chance.
