No. 11 Minnesota (4-4, 1-4)

Nearly blew a 22-point fourth-quarter lead against Indiana.

10. Minnesota (4-4, 1-4)

The Golden Gophers finally got their first Big Ten win of the season, ending a four game skid.

11. Minnesota, 4-4 (def. Indiana 38-31)

It came a little late but P.J. Fleck and Minnesota finally got a B1G win.

Omaha World Herald chimes in with Gophers 11th:

11. MINNESOTA (4-4, 1-4)
Last week: Beat Indiana 38-31

This week: at Illinois, 2:30 p.m. (BTN)

Coach P.J. Fleck has to find two more wins to grab a bowl berth. It’d be major progress for a program that’s very young and prone to wild swings in games. Minnesota coughed up a 31-9 lead before scoring a late touchdown.

Go Gophers!!

247 chimes in with Gophers 12th:

12. MINNESOTA (4-4, 1-4)
At one point in the second half, the Gophers were about to score and take a 38-9 lead over Indiana. Then the turnovers started and the defense faded and somehow, it was a tie game with six minutes left. They avoided an all-time collapse, though, getting a long touchdown and a defensive stop to claim their first win since mid-September. They'll have a chance to make it two in a row this weekend in an ugly matchup with Illinois.

Go Gophers!!

Gophers at #8, Badgers at #11

Based solely on wins and who you beat

Power Points
1 point for every win over FBS opponent.

1/2 point for every win over FCS opponent.

1 point for every win the teams you beat have (i.e for Gophers add up New Mexico State, Fresno State, Miami, and Indiana win totals), FCS opponents excluded. That only impacts power points of Illinois (Western Illinois), Iowa (Northern Iowa), and Nebraska (Bethune-Cooman).

Far from a perfect system (what system is?), but invariably at the end of the season it usually spits out an accurate reflection of teams' strength.

Based on evidence, 11th seems fair although we all hope some additional victories will help to bump this up a bit more. The one that has the Gophers 12th, two spots behind the Indiana team they just beat (with Indiana having a slightly worse B1G record, to boot) is quite goofy, though.

BTN chimes in with Gophers 11th:

11. Minnesota (4-4, 1-4). Minnesota held off Indiana 38-31 at TCF Bank Stadium on Friday night. The Golden Gophers were able to win despite their starting QB and RB sitting out due to injury. Backup QB Tanner Morgan earned Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week honors, going 17-24 for 302 yards and three TDs in his first start. Indiana scored 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, but Minnesota held on in a game that kept the Gophers’ bowl hopes alive and well.
Last week: 12
Up next: at Illinois
