MADISON - Wisconsin senior tight end Zander Neuville is expected to miss the remainder of the season because of a left-knee injury suffered this past week in practice.

UW coach Paul Chryst revealed Neuville’s status last Thursday morning.

Neuville suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in the 2017 regular-season finale at Minnesota.

He was cleared for full workouts on camp in August but battled a hamstring injury and missed the opener. He started in Week 2 against New Mexico and in Week 3 against BYU.

Neuville suffered a right-ankle injury against BYU and was limited in the Big Ten opener at Iowa.

According to Chryst, Neuville returned after the week off feeling completely recovered.

"He was feeling great," Chryst said. "Best he had felt. You feel like you’re out of that tunnel. There’s light."

Neuville then injured his left knee during practice on Tuesday, though UW officials weren't initially sure of the severity of the injury. Considered best blocking tight end.

Well, they’ve lost what looks to be a 2nd/3rd TE that has 10 career catches and is in his senior year. Call me when the RS freshman with 8 catches and 2 TD in 2 games of B10 play goes down.

Not sure why we care about a middle of the pack B1G team like Wisky? They'll go 9-3 or 10-2 this year, make it to the B1G title game (by default this year), get crushed by OSU and go to a decent bowl game. Right now, they're behind OSU, Michigan and Penn State as far as national relevance.

Another year some thought they would/could do more but threw up all over themselves against a bad BYU team. OH well...

That "middle of the pack team" will still handle the Gophers.

I didn’t think there were any tight ends in Madison.
