1. Minnesota hits the road for the first time this season when the Gophers travel to Maryland for a meeting with the Terrapins. This will be the fourth all-time game between Minnesota and Maryland and the Terrapins have won two of those games. However, the Gophers are 1-0 in their lone trip to Maryland Stadium, as they topped he Terrapins 31-10 in 2016. Shannon Brooks, Emmit Carpenter, Rodney Smith and Antoine Winfield Jr., all scored in that win, but Brooks and Smith will miss this week's contest with injuries. Carpenter totaled seven points (1 FG, 4 PATs) and Winfield returned an interception 82 yards for a score as Minnesota triumped. Maryland's two wins against Minnesota came last year (31-24 in Minneapolis) and in the 1977 Hall of Fame Bowl (17-7).

2. Minnesotans have led the Gophers to a 3-0 record. Zack Annexstad (537 passing yards, 4 TDs), Tyler Johnson (283 reciving yards, 5 TDs), Seth Green (4 rushing TDs, 1 passing TD, 1 two-point conversion pass), Blake Cashman (21 tackles, 5.5 TFLs), Carter Coughlin (3.0 sacks), Thomas Barber (16 tackles, 1 INT), Kamal Martin (12 tackles) and starting offensive lineman Conner Olson, Sam Schlueter and Blaise Andries all hail from the Land of 10,000 Lakes. In addition, Antoine Winfield Jr. (lists hometown as The Woodlands, Texas) grew up playing football in Minnesota. Winfield has 16 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery, a punt return for a touchdown and averages 36.67 yards per punt return.

3. The Gophers closed out their non-conference schedule with a 26-3 win against Miami. Minnesota has now won 14 straight non-conference games (including bowl games), which is the second longest active streak in the nation behind Utah (have won 22 straight). Minnesota last loss a non-conference game on Sept. 3, 2015, when it fell to No. 2 TCU at home. The Gophers are 19-1 in their past 20 non-conference home games and have won 10 straight. In addition, P.J. Fleck-coached teams have won 10 straight regular-season, non-conference games. Minnesota is 6-0 in such games and have allowed only 51 points (8.5 ppg) in those six games.

4. Minnesota is 3-0 for the second straight season under head coach P.J. Fleck. Fleck is the first Gopher coach to start his first two seasons 3-0 since Alexander Jerrems in 1896 (beat South High, Minneapolis Central and Carleton) and 1897 (beat South High, Macalester and Carleton). Minnesota started 7-0 in 1896 and 4-0 in 1897.

5. The Gophers have 113 players on the roster and 59 of those players – or 52.2 percent – are freshmen (true and redshirt). That's the highest number in college football. Virginia is next at 50 percent and is then followed by Wake Forest (49.1 percent) and UCF (48.03 percent). The Gophers have 79 underclassmen of the roster, which is 69.9 percent of the team. That ranks tenth in college football behind only Illinois, Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State, Cincinnati, UCLA, Virginia, Wake Forest, Western Michigan and Georgia Southern.

For "Minnesota at Maryland; 5 Things You Need To Know", I was kinda hoping to see something, I don't know, about the team from Maryland?

From the link at the bottom of the O.P.:

Maryland is 2-1 and opened the season with a 34-29 victory against Texas and then beat Bowling Green. The Terrapins suffered their first loss of the sason last Saturday when they fell 35-14 to Temple.

Temple but struggled to get anything going offensively. Senior Darnell Savage, Jr. had a 23-yard interception return for a touchdown for Maryland's lone score of the first half and senior Jesse Aniebonam blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown to pull the Terps to with- in 28-14 late in the third quarter.

Redshirt freshman Kasim Hill came into the Temple game having thrown 66 pass attempts without an interception. The Maryland rushing attack accumulated 444 rushing yards in the win against Bowling Green, marking the most in a game for the program since 1999. Senior Ty Johnson and sophomore Tayon Fleet-Davis each recorded 100-yard days on the ground, as the team collectively averaged 8.6 yards per carry.

Last year the injury bug struck the Terps at quarterback as they lost now redshirt freshman Kasim Hill and red- shirt sophomore Tyrell Pigrome early on. Both are healthy this season and Hill won the starting job in camp and has completed 32-of-62 passes for 399 yards and two touchdowns. Pigrome has seen the field in all three games and has completed four passes for 29 yards, while rushing 12 times for 48 yards. Maryland also still has Max Bortenschlager who started eight games last season, which included a win against the Gophers at TCF Bank Stadium.

Thirteen different players have had at least one rushing attempt for Maryland through three games including five who have had 10 or more carries and three who have had 20 or more carries. Redshirt freshman Anthony McFarland has 21 rushes for 179 yards, Johnson has 29 attempts for 177 yards and a touchdown and Fleet-Davis has 23 attempts for 133 yards and three touchdowns. Junior Lorenzo Harrison III, sophomore Javon Leake and freshman wide receiver Jeshaun Jones have all added rushing touchdowns as well.

Eleven different Terps have caught a pass led by junior DJ Turner who has 10 grabs for 75 yards. Jones, red- shirt senior Taivon Jacobs and senior Jahrvis Davenport all have touchdown grabs
.
Maryland has forced five turnovers on defense. Senior linebacker Tre Watson leads the way in tackles with 28. Savage Jr. has 16 tackles including a team leading four for a loss along with an interception for a touchdown.
