Shama: If there was a negative about U's win over Fresno State, it was the attendance

Let's face it. Baby Boomers are getting old. They need to invigorate new young fan base.

I don't know what the U is doing to corporations in the Twin Cities that buy blocks of tickets. Maybe, they should encourage them to either return unsold tickets a week in advance, or donate them to local charities and foundations that deals with youths. Or, are they doing that already?

I just hate to see blocks of empty seats.

Heavy advertising of low priced seats may build sales amongst casual fans, recent grads, and families but this may (likely) initially run at a substantial loss. In today’s quarterly sales-centric business world a long horizon vision of building a fan base from the ground up is probably DOA. And, there may be a limited market if the team remains in that average to below average zone.

Free advertising via winning big and the attendant media coverage will obviously be the quick way to the top re butts in the seats.

Failing that perhaps go the BMW route and pipe in fake noise to help create excitement, reduce stadium size, or fill the seats with animatronic fans (will stand on every third down).

It may be not too far-fletch in the distance future to put robot fans in the stands. :cool02:

Well man, you can let them do whatever you want, the wave, stand up and cheer (profanity not included in the package), etc... You can even program them to tell Sconnie fans to sit down.
