So through two games we already have 2 receivers with double digit receptions (Johnson, Bateman). Bateman through 2 games has basically equaled the production of the #2 wide receiver last year over the entire season.

Bateman 2018 - 10 catches for 130 yards (2 games)
Howard 2017 - 11 catches for 132 yards (11 games)

If Johnson and Bateman can stay healthy I don't see any way they don't both post some really nice numbers over the course of the season and that doesn't even factor in Autman-Bell who already has 6 receptions and Douglas who looked good last year before he got hurt.

Has been a long time since we have had a group of receivers this exciting around here. As Annexstad settles in and gets more comfortable there is a real opportunity developing for this team to employ an explosive passing game. For a program that has seemed mystified by the forward pass for many years it is exciting to see the potential there for a truly solid passing game.

The CRAB may be the Gophers secret weapon when defenses are focusing on Johnson and Bateman.

I'd like to see Douglas, Howard, and others get into the receiving production. We'll learn soon enough as the season progresses who'll get added to the receiving repertoire.

It is no accident that Annexstad got the nod over Morgan. He seems to scan the whole field better and extends plays by scrambling. It is insane that he makes those accurate throws on the run. If he starts distributing those passes to other guys not named Tyler Johnson and Rashod Bateman, that will be some WR corps.
