When Fleck named Annexstad the starting quarterback last week, he said offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Kirk Ciarrocca would design a game plan to make him successful.

“Our quarterback is going to be expected to run the offense,” Fleck said Sunday. “It’s not how much do we put, how little do we put (on him). Our offense is going to run the way our offense needs to run. … They’re expected to execute it at a very high level — no matter what year (they) are.”

But this is a blank slate for Annexstad in his first collegiate game.

“We’re going to gain information together,” Fleck said. “I mean, as media and coaches, we’re gaining the same information. Whether a guy has success or he fails, we’re gaining that together.”

Go Gophers!!

This appears to be a change in tone from last season. There was a lot of talk last season about keeping it simple and putting the QBs in a position to succeed by seeing what they could handle. This sounds like Fleck and Co. expect ZA and TM to run the whole offense, period. No qualifiers.

He's going to learn the tough way to get better. Meanwhile some Gopherholers are going to rip him to thread and micromanage every step he takes. Lets row the boat with our quarterback whoever it may be on the field.

It appears the difference is they feel these QB's can handle it and last year's QBs could not.
Might explain the ever-vanilla play calling last year.

So, the Gopher passing game needs to improve.

In other shocking news, farmers are hoping for good weather for harvest, and kids are bummed about the start of the school year. (but moms are secretly thrilled).

And people on GH claim that I like to state the obvious........
