Time for this thread to start again! Here I will post all the things related to the band that don't warrant their own thread!

Spat camp started on Tuesday and the band welcomed 91 first year band members! In just a week from now they will have learned all the school songs, how to march, and entire halftime show, and for some also the Pregame show!

I continue to be amazed at the steep learning curve for the marching band. They work incredibly hard, week after week after week.

When I was in college a friend of mine was in Marching Band and the class was for 1 credit, but if you used an approximation of the hours spent equation typical classes were computed with at the time it came out to like 8-10 credits worth of time.
 



Will the Sudler Trophy elude the band again this year? Pretty much every band had won the award and you cannot win it more than once.

I think you are severely underestimating the number of college marching bands in the country.
 

I parked at the U today to go to the fair, saw the band folks out.... always nice to see.

It most certainly will because it's awarded every two years now. Next time it gets awarded is 2019. It has been awarded 31 times previously so plenty of schools yet to win (for instance, only two PAC-12 schools have won it, and zero ACC schools).

Also, ten of the 14 B1G bands have won it since its inception in 1982. The four that haven't? Minnesota, Rutgers, Maryland and Wisconsin.

Something tells me that, on reputation alone, Sconnie is not going to win it.

Not at all, I still think it is embarrassing not to have won. Both Iowa and Iowa State have won and I consider them inferior.
