Gopherhole posters 2018 prediction thread

Impossible to make any sort of accurate guesses but I’ll go with Connelly’s prediction of 5-7. The team was really bad last year. Until we see a game or two it’s hard to say how the offense and defense are going to look. Special teams...don’t matter. S/. They matter.

Given the youth at QB and some other spots it’s also possible to say the team may improve noticeably as the year goes on and we may steal one that today looks a little more daunting.

How will our competition change vs last year? How good will Nebraska, Purdue, Maryland look with all the changes and turmoil? How will Indiana look - I happen to think they could be a tough out.

This team will be young in some key spots. Especially QB.

4-8 is what I expect. Hopefully we see signs of where this going under Fleck and 2019 they go bowling.

NMSU -W
Miami Ohio - W
Fresno St - W
@Maryland - W (this was going to be an L, but wishful thinking with Maryland's situation just wouldn't allow me to put an L)
Iowa - W
@OSU - L
@Nebraska - L
Indiana - W
@Illinois - W
Purdue - W
NW - L
@WI - L

Hoping for 6-6 (3-6) so we can bowl. Willing to be pleasantly surprised.

I listened to the Ryan Burns epi 115 defense podcast. he provided a lot of data that demonstrated that the PJ team last years was awful on both sides of the ball. 4 games where our opponents gained over a total of 1000 rushing yards???? At least Kill's defense were credible

Isn’t it this year though?

Losing to Fresno at home and then only winning two Big Ten games, with neither vs Iowa, Wisconsin, or a major upset (Ohio St, somehow), would be a disappointment. I would like to think that type of a season only happens because of significant injuries.

My (very optimistic) Prediction:

New Mexico: W
Fresno: W
Miami: W
Maryland: W
Iowa: W
OSU: L
Nebraska: W
Indiana: W
Illinois: W
Purdue: W

Wisconsin: W

Is this realistic? Maybe not, can't stop me from hoping though!

9 wins, plus we beat the BADgers this year. Getting to play our "redshirts" in the last four games will make a big difference for us.

I was at the last Music City Bowl when we beat Alabama. Wow!! What a great bowl game. If you can’t have fun in Nashville, you’re already dead. Also been to the Gator Bowl, no comparison.

A loss to fresno state, but beating the badger? Bold choice.
