Enjoyed lake vacation on Wabedo by Longville.
New DB coach Addae from Arizona a brilliant mind, young up and comer, phenomenol technician and fundamental teacher.
New coach Patterson from high-scoring offense, incredible recruiter.
New pass rush coach West from best turnaround in nation at Austin Peay.
All three great energy, great recruiters.

Summer recruiting allows us to sell Minnesota way better. People shocked at how great Minnesota is. Sunny, warm, beautiful. Shocked by our facilities, restaurants, Twin Cities, Minnesota in general.

Landed one of greatest recruiting classes in history of Minnesota football and now sitting on a top 25 class.

Redshirt rule will help in QB situation.
Kirk Ciarrocca develops QBs better than anyone. He's a master at it. Flacco, WMU's Terrell.

Things so much better in year two with coaches and players in familiarty to everything on and off the field.

Kudos to Gaard and Grimm and KFAN for making the trip to Chicago.

Hate being a wet blanket ... but almost every single P5 team can say things like this. They all get great coaches, because P5 jobs are destination jobs. Cream rises fast in the assistant coaching world.

Every school/place can spin something about itself being great, for this reason or that.

Every P5 has a coach that has done something great in the past.

Always a way to spin the current situation: either every gain a year of experience and familiarity with what's in place, or a fresh new approach to everything will do wonders compared to the previous way of life.

All that ever really matters, in the end, are the W-L on the field. If it works ... it works. Great

Add to the list that we have:

Reasonable fans who don't get too caught up in positive messages.

In sales - as in coaching - you have to be careful not to over-promise and under-deliver.

I realize that part of a Coaches' job is to promote the program - but if you're going around hyping up every aspect of the program, and you go out and win 5 games, then people are going to be less likely to buy the same routine the next year. At some point, you have to deliver results.

A less 'out-there' coach might have gotten a longer honeymoon, but I suspect Fleck is going to have to show some results sooner because of his approach. at the very least, I think he needs to win at least 6 games in 2018, and play in some kind of a bowl game - enough to be able to show progress.

Wren - did you get a new moniker??? :)

Some people are miffed that he's promising too much. Some people are miffed that he's promising too little. I'm just miffed because last year my buddy and I drove up to the Gopher/Cornhusker game and we stopped at Diamond Joe's Casino on the Iowa/Minnesota border. I quickly won $50 playing blackjack, then went over to where he was playing roulette. He's a Cornhusker fan, and he convinced me to put the whole thing on Red because, well, Nebraska. It came up Black.

I'm confused as to what people want Fleck to say in these situations. Damned if you do, damned if you don't

Exactly! Some people just like to criticize, imagine if they were subjected to that in their own job.

Never heard TC say anything close to those comments. Not sure he even knew all his assistants (offensive side). Sad

I work in sales. 100% commission. I make what I sell. If I suck, eventually I lose my job. Similar to a coach I guess. I don’t really criticize how people do it because everyone has their own method. If only one way to sell (or coach, or recruit) worked, then everyone would do it the same way.

If you hate being a wet blanket, then why do it? Can't we enjoy some optimism?

pay me 3.5 million, and you can say anything you like about me to my face. I won't care.

but seriously - this is a board to discuss Gopher football. People are going to have different opinions - and that's what they are - opinions. I learned a long time ago that, no matter what I believed, or how fervently I believed it, that some people were just not going to agree with me. That's life. you just have to accept it. in the end, it's all immaterial. What you or I say on this board will not impact the outcome of any game or season. It's all for fun - or at least it should be.

Yea, and bring in a coach for less then 3.5M and you are "likely" going to get crap.

I agree with the person who said Fleck can comment over or under about anything and the baited breaths will be ready to pounce. Fleck doesn't give a rip. I do. Consider me optimistic, positive and perhaps unrealistic. Wouldn't have it any other way!!!
