per KSTP:

The University of Minnesota Athletes Village opened earlier this year, but it's still a long way from being fully funded.

Fundraising for the student-athlete complex is more than $40 million from reaching its goal.

The University has raised $123 million of the $166 million goal.

The shortfall comes after several controversies in the athletics department.

"There's always a pothole or two along the road in Minnesota and fortunately we are on a good path with Mark Coyle's leadership and we will be successful," University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler said.

"We are having record fundraising right now with our Athletes Village project, so we are very pleased with where we are at with our fundraising, needless to say we need to continue to raise more," Coyle said.

The University of Minnesota has a fundraising goal of $190 million for all athletic upgrades.

Go Gophers!!

I'd say that's pretty good at this point. The Athletic Department should be able to pay off the rest sooner than later.

KSTP sucks. The story lead should be how much has been privately raised. Frankly the whole thing could be paid for from football tv money and BTN, but we use a lot of that money for non rev sports.

KSTP always seems to be implying the U shouldn’t play in the big leagues.

Just the Hubbard effect. It's a public institution so it's a natural target for Stanley's minions. Damn government. Never mind he graduated from there.

If I were building a building and 75% paid off in less than a year, I would be ecstatic.

While KSTP might lack in some things, I am wondering if there are any local TV outlets that are not in the muckraking business, even if there is no muck.
