Great game for Chet to be at last night, he and Suggs were up clapping and cheering on the Gophers down the stretch:

Texas Basketball Recruiting: Longhorns offer underrated 2021 C Chet Holmgren

Both the 2020 and 2021 Texas basketball recruiting classes are still searching for the first commit, but it took a positive step by offering Chet Holmgren.
There seems to be a major focus on the 2021 Texas basketball recruiting class right now for head coach Shaka Smart. He offered the second 2021 high school prospect during the month of December to add to that Texas basketball recruiting class recently. The first of the two offers went to the elite five-star Cottage Groove, MN, small forward Kendall Brown.

The second of the two offers that Smart sent out so he can land the first commit of the 2021 Texas basketball recruiting class is also a Minnesota native. Smart is hitting the state of Minnesota hard right now between the offers going to Brown and the three-star Minneapolis, MN, center Chet Holmgren. The offer sent to Holmgren was the seventh for the 2021 Texas basketball recruiting class.

Chet has all the athleticism and skill needed to be today's big man. He is missing 40lbs of weight is all to be effective in college.

Chet Holmgren is a unique prospect, he discusses his recruitment and more.

het Holmgren is a 7-footer our of Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis, MN. He’s a very unique prospect. Prep Hoops’ Evan Flood most recently said “Holmgren is like a majestic unicorn,” and he’s right.

A long, lengthy, 7-footer who can run the floor and do basically everything that’s possible on the court.

Maybe not ranked where a guy of his stature should be ranked or doesn’t have crazy offers, he does have a recruitment that is blossoming. He took sometime to discuss his recruitment with Stockrisers.

“Right now I have six offers. Nevada, Purdue, Texas, Texas A&M, Minnesota, and Western Kentucky,” Holmgren said.

He did take an unofficial visit to Purdue when he landed that offer. As for other visits he’s visited multiple schools including UNC.

“I’m planning to get down to Marquette as well as other top universities.”

As for which schools have seen him this season, the list has grown to get pretty long. So long that Holmgren can’t remember all of them.

“Texas, Marquette, Minnesota, Gonzaga, Purdue, Kansas, Georgetown, there were a few others I can’t remember off the top of my head.”

Holmgren’s success doesn’t happen all by himself. He’s partnered up with one of the best guards in the country, Jalen Suggs.

“It’s hard to explain how different it is to play with somebody of his caliber. He makes the game easier in so many ways with his ability to pass and create easy shots for himself and others but just the focus other defenses have to put on him opens up a lot of opportunities for others. The only hard part about it is trying to outwork him [laughs],” Holmgren said on Suggs.

Reggie Lynch retweeted this with "Good Joke"

hahahahaha

Chet is a much better shot blocker in high school than Reggie, at least based on what I remember.

I think Oturu was a much better HS shot blocker than Reggie, FWIW.

Reggie was a great shot blocker in his games at the U. But there is a reason his first stop was Ill St. If he was that good of a shot blocker in HS, he would have had many better offers.

Reggie was a great shot blocker in highschool ..lack of height for high major 5 plus offense consisted of put backs and dunks in high school

Didn’t say he wasn’t a great shot blocker. Holmgren and Oturu are/were better

I saw Chet play last year. Saw him play this year. He is an amazing talent. Saw him do things a 10th grade 7-footer should not be doing. Hit 3s, handled the ball, blocked shots, crazy lob catch reverse layup, on and on. He is really, really, really good. If he's not in the NBA in 4 years I will be pretty surprised. I've seen Hurt play, they're different... Chet has the potential to influence the game on so many levels.

Crazy, crazy, crazy talent.

Not sure he'll have the physical strength in 4 years to play in the league. Needs to literally add 70+ lbs to his frame. Especially in the Big 10, let alone the NBA.

To bang under that basket on defense, you might be right. However, if he is as skilled as he is described to be, he would play.
