The class thus far.

Curious to know if there are any "wonks" out there who can grade these commitments. Looks like there's some decent height in this group. Also, I'm wondering if Lisa Bluder and Bill Fennelly will rue the day that Whalen was hired as the Gopher coach. Iowa, in particular, has often had players from Minnesota who have contributed. Looks like that may now be evened out a bit. Also, I am wondering, does it seem like the Gophers are ahead of their recruiting (and commitment) pace compared to previous regimes, or am I just imagining that? It would be nice if this program could get to a point where they'll be a national power and high school recruits might have to sign early in order to ensure their spots. Now that obviously wouldn't happen with someone of Bueckers' quality , but with the 3- and 4-star recruits, I'd like to see the Gopher get to that point.

Maybe..or maybe not. Hubbard, Brunson, the Bello's, Pitts and Deja Church committed in August/September.

Under Borton I think Kayla Hirt committed before her sophomore season and there was a point guard, whose name I forget, that also committed early (maybe sophomore season) but, following an ACL injury, ended up at Northern Arizona. Wagner committed as a junior. And I think Banham committed as a junior or sophomore (Rachel committed before she was ranked in the ESPN top hundred if I recall).

And Kenisha Bell committed to the Gophers before her sophomore season. Of course we know how that worked out.

A quick commit! Less than 2 weeks after being offered?
Does anyone know what other schools offered her?

Des Moines, huh?? I wonder if she was inspired by the Lynx preseason game in Des Moines.

Do Cumming and Ross play in the same class level? I’m wondering if they are fierce rivals or do they never play each other?

They should have a good carpool opportunities anyway.

Wholly guacamole! Whalen seem to be quick and convincing as a recruiter! She certainly has an eye for talent. Wow. Scalia and Ross are pretty good gets. I am enamored with Ross' defensive play. It seems like the Gophers are accumulating players with size.

Loading up on talented guards. I hope she can find some quality true centers to compliment them.

Apologies in Advance...

I know you meant 'complement' but my mind immediately started thinking about the centers commenting how much they liked the guard play! "Great cross-over!" "Awesome drive!" "Nice dish!"

I find this conversation interesting to say the least. The gopher women’s team has 8 players on this roster 6’1” and taller and 5 players who could be referred to as guards. So far that won’t change next year either. We shouldn’t concern ourselves with necessarily how many players we have at certain positions but more concerned with whether they can play at this level or not.

Will be curious what they do for their 4th coach since Lindsay likely wont be able to get out this weekend. I know Kimani Young couldnt recruit for a couple weeks last year and they had their dobo Ryan Livingston out. So do the women have Maines or Solis on the road?

The Lnyx bested the LA Sparks last night at Target Center. They have a game in Chicago tomorrow against the Chicago Sky. So, if there is any recruiting to be done maybe in the Chicago area killing two birds with one stone.

Louisville's Run for the Roses tournament features 900 U.S. and international teams. Here's who shows up to watch them.

Just following twitter Carly has been in Indy and louisville this weekend, Maines in Indy til today, Obanion was in MN until today and is in Indy now. Whalen is at the Mill city tourney today. I'm not sure where Kelly was.

At Mill City the top Fury teams were on hand along with BC Denver, OSA from Omaha, Wisconsin Flight, EJ Hoops and the top North Tartan 2021 and 2022 teams. Whalen watched Amaya Battle, Alyssa Ustby, Mallory Heyer, McKenzie Kramer, Kaylee Van Eps, Taylor Woodson, Sophie Hart, Mara Braun, Jenna Johnson among others.

Have the Gophers offered Kramer or not?

Kramer was offered by the previous coaching staff. She attended Gopher elite camp and is still on their radar. She is more likely to go Ivy League.

Are you saying she’s an intellect and she’s in it for the education over the long term basketball career?

Probably a realist looking for a different type of college experience. There were plenty of programs interested in her this weekend but most see her as a mid-major player.
