All Things Kerwin Walton Recruitment Thread (Class of 2020)

Yep. And I'd guess it might be the same issue with Crowl and Garcia, which I think might partly explain why they were so deliberate with the Crowl offer. I suppose they could take both, but then they would have to hold off on either a PG or a SG and they have some excellent options there.
If Crowl or Murrell commits they'll make room for Garcia if he wants to be here. If we signed for example Crowl, Walton and Long. We will still recruit Garcia and Suggs, those are guys you just don't say no too

I agree with that. However, that would not be best for the team's needs. I think ideally they balance the roster out with a point, a shooter and a PF but yes, you take Suggs and/or Garcia any time, no matter what. Would they even over sign to do it? I think yes.

Adidas Summer Championships: Top Performer of Day Two

2020 Kerwin Walton, D1 Minnesota - Kerwin Walton, a 6’5” wing playing on one of the best teams on the Adidas circuit, came out scorching hot shooting the ball against a tough Team Loaded NC. Walton hit 4 three-pointers in the first half helping D1 Minnesota take a 14 point lead into halftime. But as Team Loaded NC started to pull themselves back into the game after the break, Walton took matters into his own hands hitting 6 more three-pointers from all over the floor. The wing is a spectacular catch and shoot scorer but can still put the ball on the floor and score. The three-star wing finished the game with 10 made threes on just 13 attempts totaling 30 points in D1 Minnesota’s 80-65 win. D1 Minnesota and Walton kept it rolling against a loaded Dream Vision team led by Kyree Walker and Makur Maker defeating them 67-42. Walton led all scorers with 21 points, shooting 8-13 from the field adding 5 three’s bringing his total to 15 three’s between two games. Despite only being a three-star recruit, Walton likely turned a ton of heads today as there was countless high-major and mid-major in attendance for his shooting performances. D1 Minnesota is headed to the Adidas Summer Championships Final Four and Walton will look to keep his hot shooting streak alive.

Daily Notebook - Day 3 of the 2019 Adidas Summer Championships

2020 SG Kerwin Walton - D1 Minnesota (MN)

Kerwin Walton was one of those players who arguably had the top performance of the day today. Kerwin hit ten three's in his matchup this morning against Team Loaded (NC) and followed that by hitting five three's in his matchup against Dream Vision (CA). He finished the day going an amazing 15-23 from beyond the arc. Walton has been shooting the lights out all weekend long here in Hoover. Iowa State has been the latest to offer the fantastic sharpshooter.

100 percent they would, plus people transfer all the time. We also have two Rs Juniors currently on the roster, anyways cross that bridge only it needs to be crossed, gotta get one before we worry about potentially over signing

We were one of the first schools to offer Walton. Wish we had already wrapped him up before he blew up.

Weren't some on the board not putting much stock into Walton, especially if we landed him, like it would be a disappointment.

Whoops.

per Marcus: Hopkins guard Kerwin Walton sees interest soar after big AAU weekend

Q: How did it feel to be offered by the Gophers last fall? Where do you stand with them?

A: It felt great to get an offer from them. They’re another big-time school. I know a lot of the guys who went there (sophomores Daniel Oturu and Gabe Kalscheur). I’m pretty cool with them. I have a pretty good relationship with the coaching staff. They seem to really like me. I can see myself there, honestly. I believe I would fit in there. I feel like I could come in there and be used properly being able to play with Gabe, Daniel and other guys. I feel like Gabe and I would be good backcourt.

Q: Was it encouraging to see the Gophers reach the NCAA tournament last season?

A: It does encourage me a little bit about the program. Because if they can be successful I feel like the coaching staff could make that happen for me. I feel like I could reach that same level by developing myself or go even farther.

Q: Have you thought about when you would like to make a decision?

A: Not too much really. I’m just trying to look for the best fit for me. Where could I go in and possibly play right away, develop and be the best player I can be.

Walton also exhibited outstanding touch on contested shots in the paint when I saw him play TC PRO AM. Ball....amazing how his shots would almost everytime drop in after bouncing around the rim

. The thought seems to be Zeke is one and done anyway.

Where did you hear this?

Zeke doesn’t have a one and done look to him at all. He’s nowhere to be found in any 2020 NBA mock drafts. Maybe (likely?) doesn’t stay 4 years, but it would be very surprising if he were a one and done IMO

That's a really good offer, but an Arizona offer isn't quite what it was a few years back.

How much was the offer from AZ?

Then what would you call a Minnesota offer?

Zero chance.

In today's game, there is no such thing as a zero chance for anything relating to players leaving college. There may be zero chance he's drafted in the NBA, but much more than zero chance he opts for other pro options if college is not his thing.

With all these offers guessing Kerwin jumps into the 50-75 range next eval period
