Geno Crandall

He is still not on the Zags roster. Maybe the NCAA is scrutinizing how he could have filled in so many credits, so quickly, while living over 200 mile away from campus. You have to believe that the NCAA is keyed into making sure these early graduations are real.

Sure. Just like they make sure classes are real. [emoji6]

There is a big difference between graduating and staying eligible, I doubt any school would fake diploma requirements, I'm guessing he talked some of the prof's into giving him incompletes that he is trying to finish, tough road to be on I would guess.

When the number of credits needed to graduate was reported here originally, I was skeptical about whether he could accomplish that in the summer (particularly considering that he had so many credits left after spending four years at UND) and thought he was a risky recruiting choice. He may have to wait until mid-December to join the Zags. Considering the injury recovery issues we have on our team I'd rather have a full year of Stockman than a semester of Crandall.

Why are atheists so quick to condemn a person for a possible misdeamer that may or may not have been committed by a juvenile over 25 years ago

If we run into Cal in the NCAA tournament Matz' experience with them is going to be worth a lot more than Geno sitting at UND!

This is the most random post ever. I want to hear more.

I would be curious to hear Mr. Crandall’s position on prior restraint.

So with a bunch of credits left to finish at UND and him wanting to be a grad transfer, does UND still have to cover his remaining undergrad classes under scholarship or how does that work?

I would hope not, he chose to leave his scholarship so why would they need to pay for his “additional schooling”?

I would bet he is not under scholarship this current fall semester in Grand Forks. He probably was still, for the summer. So paying for this misstep out of pocket.

Aren't classes that he has incompletes in already paid for?

You can't become a graduate transfer until you graduate, I would assume. So I thought the deal was, he didn't complete enough credits that he needed to complete this summer, and thus has to take more credits this fall.

Perhaps maybe, he just transferred to Gonzaga and will get his undergrad degree there, with his school being paid for this fall by Gonzaga? But he isn't eligible to play until he is a graduate student. Again, this is only my intuition.

Can he still be a Sioux? (I don't recognize and team name change.)

Geno plans on graduating from und at the end of this month and reporting to zags in early oct....in time for fall grad school sem B... maybe working on an incomplete for summer class or some other way to get a degreee in sept.

That was going to be my question, how on earth is that possible?? UND is on semesters, so if he's taking a fall semester class, he can't get credit for it until the end of the semester.

Gotta be some loophole he's doing. Some self-directed/self-paced online course?? Or maybe, somehow, he gets to "re-take" an 8 week course from the summer, during Aug/Sept??

Probably all on-line with deadlines that are not directly tied to other terms. I'm not sure how many credits he needed, but any institution admitting him has to take a couple of looks at how it is possible to get so much work done in such a short period of time. I'm quite sure most educators would challenge the value of a pile of courses taken in such an abbreviated fashion.

He has earned his UND degree (finished the last of his 19 summer school credits including his "incomplete" this past Monday), is now on Gonzaga's roster and is practicing. Geno starts Grad School classes a week from Tuesday (10/23).

BTW it'd be fun to run into you guys in the Round of 16 this season (the 1/4 or 2/3 matchup) ... I see a high ceiling for the Gophers.

Sounds like he wouldn’t have been able to transfer to the U even if he wanted to.. whatever, we only really wanted him cause we lack PG depth. If Carr is able to be eligible than our whole pursuit of him would be rather pointless

Leonid Hurwicz at the U used to let you take an incomplete and study and retakes tests to improve a grade, could be a similar type situation.
