Great job Justus! Don't back off, make them catch up to you!

What does 'nekton' mean in this context again?

What does 'nekton' mean in this context again?

Plankton = Animals whose movements are dictated by water currents

Nekton = Animals whose movements are not dictated by water currents

Essentially, his use of nekton means people who don't let circumstances control their behavior.

Problem is he always uses it in the context of a "cool" aggressive animal like a shark when in fact since it refers to any animal that moves on its own. So it is just as much a comparison to a crab or sea slug.

Maybe someone from the biology department could explain it to him in more detail since this is an academic institution.

My guess is P.J. also really likes the sound of Nekton. Kind of sounds like it could be the name of some crazy robotic creature in a Transformers movie.
