per Judd:

CBS’ Tom Fornelli included factors such as the five-year history of teams, whether teams are coming off bye weeks and if games are at home or on the road. Obviously, the Gophers getting all three of their nonconference teams at TCF Bank Stadium is a big help.

The Gophers, however, aren’t expected to be much better this season after going 5-7 overall and 2-7 in the Big Ten in Fleck’s first year. Part of the issue remains the instability the program has at the quarterback position.

So while the thought of having the most favorable — or weakest — schedule in the conference might be nice, don’t get your hopes up.

Go Gophers!!

Another award winning opinion from this nobody....

Mackey and Judd is the most entertaining morning sports talk radio show in the Twin Cities. Like every other talk radio show their opinions are frequently wrong but that doesn't really matter in sports where the main goal is to promote discussion, debate, arguments, and sometimes fisticuffs.

Not exactly a high bar to overcome.

Hahaha, you have a very low bar for what qualifies as "entertaining"

People must not know just how incredibly entertaining they are based on Nielsen ratings.

Who are Mackey and Judd and what station are they on? Maybe they are on when I don't listen. Do they compete with PA (Pathetic @$$hole)?

Never too early for the Twin Cities sports media to go negative.

the team has been poopy at QB since the 60's.
Defies logic to be so awful for so long and not once hit on an ace slinger

That’s why so many of these guys are impossible to listen to. Throw out stupid opinions, get it right once in awhile and they’ll act like they’re geniuses.

How do you erase negativity? Just win, baby! Just win.

Judd sucksssss

He just basically said the same thing Fleck keeps saying.

I’m no fan either, but he repeated what our coach has said.

Curious how some arrive at different decisions based on who says a thing.

I'll hang up and listen to your answer.

Go Gophers!!

It is college football...who has stability at the quarterback position?

Nebraska may start a true frosh or a redshirt frosh.

Illinois may start Cam Thomas, who started two games as a true frosh last year and was dreadful. He was the one scholarship qb in spring camp.

Purdue has two guys returning but both had surgeries. The better qb, Sindelar, missed Spring with a knee.

Northwestern qb Thorson also missed Spring with surgery. No other experience on roster.

Maryland will look for two young guys who missed about all of 2017 and all of Spring. Three career starts between them.

Indiana returns Ramsey. Split duty as a redshirt frosh last year. Brought in a grad transfer for depth/to compete.

Ohio State has a redshirt soph who threw 57 passes last year and a redshirt frosh at one and two after Spring as Burrow grad transfers to LSU.

Iowa returns Stanley, one year as starter.

Bucky returns Horninbrook, almost two full years as starter.

Sucksessful Judd thinks the Gophers are doomed even before they take the first snap. Got it.

Depressing to listen to him.

The Mackey & Judd show is actually pretty good on the days when Judd is out and someone like Chris Long, Brian Murphy, Mike Grimm, my neighbor from down the street, an UPS driver, a crossing guard, or anyone...really, fill in.

For those of you looking to get away from the inane local sports radio shows and/or looking for a commuting podcast The Audible with Bruce Feldman and Stewart Mandel is regularly excellent - weekly overview of college football landscape news to include recruiting, coaching, game reviews and previews, etc. There won’t be much Gopher news (although Mandel still chides for firing Mason when the topic of overachieving coaches comes up) but by the sound of it that’s not a big change.

If anyone has other suggestions...

still, Judd is right. Jerry Kill was a qb from getting a HC job at a helmet school and look how it ended for Jerry. No QB no program.

If our crappy SoS ever matters for say the playoffs.... I'll be happy that it matters.

According to my calculations it is 99 days until the opening game against New Mexico State on August 30th. Who is going to start the count down?
