In-State Recruiting

There are candidates who check every box. With that said i have no problem giving a young guy a chance but need to see a great deal more than fans thinking highly of a ex player with some coaching. There are a ton of guys out there that are considered potential stars. Guys with USA coaching chops, guys with deep recruiting ties, guys with masters degrees, shooting specialists, defensive specialists.

Fair enough, although I'm not sure why we care if they have a masters degree. I'm open to other options, but I think he would objectively be a solid choice.

You're right about the stuff he's picked up along the way. In his writings and interviews, he's cited both offensive and defensive ideas he's adapted from his pro coaches who he believes are some of the best in the business.

Bad, are you Damian's agent? Little side job?

I like the guy, but I'm not prepared to advocate for a guy who has never coached college basketball. Plus, by all accounts, DJ is a committed family man and college coaching is brutal on family life.

Not a big deal to have a Masters but it is nice to have one on staff. Makes a big family impression to some on the recruiting front.

In recent days, he's tweeted...
1) That he's been re-watching the tapes of the games his Polars lost, trying to find improvements for next year, and
2) Asking around if there's any summer team out there that could use a volunteer assistant, because he's itching to help out a little somewhere.

The guy has said that he feels made for coaching, and this kind of stuff confirms it. It's his vocation. He will be coaching in the college game some day.
