per the Commercial Appeal:

The Grizzlies will remove the interim tag from head coach J.B. Bickerstaff and are expected to make an announcement as soon as today with the parties agreeing to a three-year pact.

Bickerstaff, 39, joined the Grizzlies in 2016 as associate head coach when David Fizdale took over the helm. The Grizzlies fired Fidazle and inserted Bickerstaff in November.

Grizzlies brass was impressed with Bickerstaff's performance and didn't conduct a coaching search. Bickerstaff wasn’t short on endorsements from veteran players, either, when the Grizzlies conducted exit interviews with media following the regular season.

“He’s done a tremendous job with the tools he was given and with what he was allowed to do,” center Marc Gasol said. “Through all the mess and the situation, he’s done a great job.”

Said point guard Mike Conley: “He deserves this job.”

Collegiate career
After his two years with Oregon State, Bickerstaff played two seasons with Minnesota and averaged 9.4 points and 5.8 rebounds for the Golden Gophers.

Bickerstaff moved into the role of director of operations for Minnesota’s basketball program after his collegiate career was over.

What shocks me most is that JB is 39. Man time flies.
