Gophers guard Jamir Harris will transfer, according to Adam Zagoria of the New York Times. The team later confirmed the report.

Harris, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound guard averaged 3.9 points per game last season, while playing 14.1 minutes per game. He is the second Gophers player along with forward Davonte Fitzgerald to transfer out of the program this year.

Assistant head coach Kimani Young left to take an assistant head coaching job at UConn earlier this week. He played a pivotal role in adding the New York native to last season’s recruiting class.

It is unclear where Harris will transfer, but the Gophers will now be looking to bolster the guard position with the 2018 recruiting class. The Gophers will now have three open recruiting slots heading into next year.

Yikes... going to make depth in the backcourt even more pressing

A lot of playing time to be had by a grad transfer though. Always a good selling point. I liked Jamir. He’s the kind of young man you want to succeed. He could shoot but looked a step slow on defense. 3.9 gpa’s are hard to replace too.

Looks like Amir at the shooting guard slot unless a sure fire grad shows up.

Good luck Jamir! You will succeed wherever you land!
