20. Richard Pitino, Minnesota: 2013-2017, 4 seasons

Son of coaching legend Rick Pitino, Richard Pitino is just getting things going at Minnesota.

His first team, 2013-14, won the NIT title mostly with players recruited by predecessor Tubby Smith, and after two rebuilding seasons, Pitino’s squad finished fourth in the Big Ten and made the NCAA tournament for the first time last season.

This year’s Minnesota team didn't fare as well, so the jury is still out on Pitino, 36, who is in just his sixth year as a head coach.

15. Tubby Smith, Minnesota: 2007-2013, 6 seasons

Minnesota was the fourth stop of Tubby Smith’s coaching career that so far includes six schools over 27 seasons.

Smith’s non-conference success meant Minnesota had more than 20 wins in five of his six years at the school, while earning three NCAA tournament berths.

But Smith's Minnesota teams went just 46-62 in Big Ten play never finishing higher than sixth, and his Golden Gophers didn’t win an NCAA tournament game. Smith was fired after the 2012-13 season, spent three seasons at Texas Tech and now coaches at Memphis.
