Local Super Bowl, Final Four Organizing Committees Celebrate Transition to Next Iconic Event for Minneapolis

Governor Mark Dayton to Join Committee Co-Chairs, Former University of Minnesota Basketball Greats at Public Handoff Event

WHAT: The Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee and the 2019 Minneapolis Final Four Local Organizing Committee will participate in a special event on March 5, 2018, to mark the transition from one iconic sporting event in the City to the next.

The celebratory “handoff” event downtown (timed less than one week before Selection Sunday, the NCAA’s tipoff to March Madness) is open to the public and will feature a variety of fun, basketball-themed activities as well as information about 2019 Final Four tickets and volunteer opportunities.

WHO: Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton, U.S. Bancorp Executive Chairman and Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee Co-Chair Richard Davis, Mortenson Corp. Chairman and 2019 Minneapolis Final Four Local Organizing Committee Co-Chair David Mortenson, Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee CEO Maureen Bausch, 2019 Minneapolis Final Four Local Organizing Committee CEO Kate Mortenson and former Golden Gopher basketball greats John Thomas and Quincy Lewis.


WHEN: Monday, March 5, 2018 from 12:30-2:00 p.m.

Hope they have a plan to get people out of the stadium. The Super Bowl was great getting in but a disaster getting out. 1hr to get out and still stuck in skyway 30 minutes later. To avoid being trampled people were exiting to walk outside even though thry were parked in Ramp A of Target Field. Hope a better plan is in place for Final Four.
