B1G Tournament Game 1: Gophers versus ? (2 March 2018)

I couldn't even watch the 4th quarter with all the calls but thank god they won!

Fitting to get the win after the no-call on Wagner going to the basket with 10 seconds left.

Whalen chimes in:

Go Gophers!!

Loved the way the team hung in and didn't blink at the end. Destiny and Gadiva kept up the intensity after some slow spots. Truly a team win. When did Carlie develop that reverse high banker? Damn that was useful.

Great win, still think the refs were a little one-sided, not that our posts are not known for great defense but I feel there was a lot of no calls on the other end. Last few games Wagner has willed this team even against Indy. Hopefully gOt the first game jitters out of the way and much cleaner performance tomorrow. Just win the damn thing!

Oh, my!!! What a game. Very entertaining. After almost getting jobbed by a no-call on Wagner, the Gophers perimeter defense doesn't allow Iowa to get off a good shot. Bell and Wagner were terrific the entire game. Hubbard with some good defense, including a big play near the end of the game. Not a stellar game for Pitts, but she stepped it up in the second half. And, yes, Vera Jones and Shelley Till (and Shades), shooters have to keep shooting when they get open looks. And, once again, Megan Gustafson is a terrific player. She is surrounded by an average group of teammates, yet her presence makes them a very good team. A dancing we will go!

A very gritty effort, indeed. Turnovers were a big factor in this game. Iowa turned it over quite a bit. Too early to start thinking about next year, but when the Hawkeyes get Davis back from her injury next year, they'll have a shot to win the BIG. Great team win for the Gophers. They never looked frazzled. Veteran leadership from Wagner and Bell. Gophers left some points on the table with missed free throws.

Once again the Gopher D forces turnovers. Minnesota with 11 steals helping force 19 Iowa turnovers. Minnesota in a fast physical game only turned it over 7 times.

Yes I damn near lost it when Wagner was taken to the court driving the lane with 10 seconds remaining.

The defensive stand of the season...thus far.

I'll take it, but Bell is running around looking for someone and at 4 seconds there's an Iowa player totally unguarded at the 3 point line, hands out, wanting the ball.
