Since 1988 (30 year window), Iowa is 30-27 against Minnesota in MBB.

Iowa wins at Williams Arena during this period: 2015, 2012, 2007, 2004, 2001, 1988, 1995, 1992, 1988.

Iowa NCAA Tournament Appearances: 14
Minnesota NCAA Tournament Appearances: 8 (It would be 11 but 3 were vacated).

Fran is 7-6 against Minnesota while at Iowa.

Prediction: Iowa 79 Minnesota 75.

I'll be attending the game this evening. The Battle for the Cellar at Williams Arena!

Any games that stick our over 30 years?

These two stick out for me, recently:

Back in 2015, Uhtoff hit a jumper late for the lead. Mathieu drove the length of the court and scored but time had expired. Iowa 77 Minnesota 75.

Back in 2013: Austin Hollins hit a 3 with 10 seconds left and Minnesota escaped Iowa 62-59 in Williams Arena.

Towards the end of the Clem/Dr. Tom era, there was a game at The Barn where both teams were ranked somewhere between 15-20th nationally. It was a Saturday afternoon CBS national TV game the crowd was fired up. Neither Clem nor Dr. Tom wanted to be the first team on the floor for the warm-ups, so as the clock ticked from 15 minutes down to 10, neither team was on the floor...clock ticked under 7, neither team was on the floor...clock hits 5 minutes and the crowd is in an absolute frenzy. Finally with just under three minutes to go before tip, Iowa finally heads up on the floor, and less than 20 seconds later, the Gophers hit the floor to a rocking crowd.

Hopefully we'll each be back in the Top 20 next year, it makes these games a lot more fun.

1989, #5 Iowa with Roy Marble, BJ Armstrong, Ed Horton etc lose to the Gophs. A crazy loud crowd and one of Clem’s first big wins.

The '94 triple OT thriller.

Looking back at the results from that year, the Gophers put a thumping on some teams. They beat #21 Wisconsin on the road 109-78 and 90-53 at home, the epic Indiana thrashing 106-56, 92-68 over St. Johns.

i think it's safe to say that team did not let teams hang around and crushed opponents when they had the opportunity.
