per ESPN:

A member of Michigan State's No. 2-ranked basketball team has been under investigation for criminal sexual conduct since the start of the fall semester, sources close to the case confirmed to Outside the Lines on Thursday.

Ingham County, Michigan, prosecutors are in the process of determining whether formal charges should be filed against the player, freshman guard Brock Washington. Washington, a walk-on from Southfield, Michigan, is named as the lone suspect in an alleged assault that Michigan State campus police have classified as fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, the sources told Outside the Lines.

In August, a female student reported to campus police that Washington forcibly groped her without her permission, the sources told Outside the Lines. After an investigation, police on Dec. 13 forwarded their findings to the county prosecutor's office.

Go Gophers!!

Not super great timing for MSU.

Crazy thing is, MSU starting to play its best basketball with all the crap surrounding the school (Nassar) and the OTL report. Izzo's under fire (as he should be at least until we hear something from him), but it clearly hasn't impacted his coaching acumen.

So criminal charges are being considered AND the accuser is a MSU student. Somehow I have to think this would be a bigger deal if this happened in Minnesota. Maybe BarnBurner has been right all these years?

To Izzo's "credit", he seems to protect any and all of his guys as this is only a freshman walk-on.

Maybe the fact that he is a walk-on who likely has made or will make virtually zero contribution to the program is why. Also the fact that it was a groping incident and not an alleged rape could be part of the reason as well.

Maybe? Sure nuf.

Any questions after the unc sham?

This has 'Fall guy' Written all over it. This kid will be more harshly or unjustly punished then he would have otherwise, (if accusations are true they should), and they can say 'Look we are against this type of stuff'...

Chris Carter would be proud.

That would be sick. Not surprising though.

The kids a walk-on? Time for him to be a walk away...for his own protection.
