I am worried about how are they going to maintain consistency in both offensive and defensive schemes with coaching change upheavals moving forward.
Don't know which Defense PJF eschews 3-4 or 4-3 https://www.muthead.com/forums/madden/mut-discussion/972757-i-explain-which-is-better-3-4-or-4-3
Maybe PJ Fleck will maintain a base offense and defense, but each assistant coach put their own wrinkles without doing major overhauls. It will be good for the players to to know how to make adjustments without wholesale departures to totally new schemes every couple of years.

The loss of the three coaches and their coaching ability is one thing. But the biggest deficit is in recruiting. We lost our three best recruiters. Our three guys with some swagger. Replacing that to lure recruits is my concern. PJ recruited in December, January and February on 2019. So far we have 3 lower rated verbals for a guy who likes to start fast and furious. Our average rating for the 3 guys is far below the average for all 26.
Well aware we have 22, 23 slots to bring the average up, but who other than PJ has any cachet?
Want to bet on where we will finish 2019?

I'll bet we finish lower in 2019 than we end up in 2018. Presently we are #37 likely on our way to #38. I don't think we will end up any where 1 thru 38 in 2019. What are your thoughts? I enjoy your opinions, dpo's and johnny boy's
insights too. So, I'd hate to see you ban yourself.

Just playing based on the now famous bet - no interest in betting or banning myself. Not really interested in rankings either. I think how good of players we get will be directly related to how well we do on the field and how many times PJ pushes out the timetable to when we will be comin'.

Fleck is our best recruiter. The recruiting prowess of those 3 position coaches is greatly exaggerated, no one was praising them for their recruiting abilities when they arrived here. Just cause they're listed as the lead recruiter on some of the guys we got doesn't really mean much, I highly doubt Bateman for example committed because of his relationship with our DB coach. Fleck did great recruiting at WMU without those three, he will continue to do so without them. Why are you pushing the panic button on recruiting? We didn't have a bunch of guys committed at this point last year, Fleck was still finalizing his first class.
I don't think you would find anybody to argue that PJ was and is our best recruiter. I'll disagree on the reputation or reality of the abilities on the three coaches who moved on.
Time will tell. We have 5 recruits from Florida in this class, 5 from Georgia, and 4 from Ohio. That's 14 guys. Pretty much all are among our higher rated. We will see in December if there was any reason for concern in these recruiting areas.
As for PJ at WMU He was #71 in 2014 avg rating 80.51
#76 in 2015 avg rating 80.51
#67 in 2016 avg rating 81.68
all three of those classes had 27 guys to boost the rankings
Personally, I would not consider that great recruiting.
I'm not expressing panic. I am expressing concern. We were front runners last year. I know it is early but PJ is the one placing the emphasis. I'm only listening to his words of all December, January and February to recruit the 2019's this year...I couldn't do that last year. Several schools have 5 to 8 guys committed and most of them are rated 85 to 95...ours are not. That's all. Go PJ!

I am glad you are not panicking, but at least get a grasp of reality! Of course his classes at WMU were not great in comparison to all D1 schools. WMU is in the fricking MAC! Take away the 60-70 schools in the P5 conferences and his rankings were not too bad.

The hype, the promise, the reason PJ was hired is for higher rated recruiting classes at MN. "Not too bad" isn't worth 3 million dollars a year. We are competing for national championships. He said it, I didn't.
2015 #74 Miami Ohio, #75 Marshall, #76 WMU #77 Memphis, #78 Louisiana LaFayette is not exactly crushing your peers. 2016 Marshall is #51 and Memphis is #61.
#37 or 38 is fine with me in year zero. I'd like it improve in his third, second or first class for 2019...however you prefer to number it. I'd be happy with another Top 40 class in 2019. At some point they need to be higher than that. I think we need to win some games to do that. However, I think PJ and Mark Coyle referred to 2018 as a class much higher than what it was or is. They think we should be recruiting Top 30 classes. Will we? That's all I'm curious about. I'm not saying he can't recruit a Top 30 class, just looking for signs to suggest he will and so far I'm not seeing it.
The Patriots, the Alabama, comparisons have no relevancy to the Gophers. PJ is building a new culture. The Patriots and Bama have established their traditions and culture. We are Minnesota. We are searching for an identity. We need to qualify for a bowl game. That would be a beginning for PJ.
Regarding our three new coaches...how many Power 5 head coaches woke up to the news those fellas were off the market and were the least bit upset? How many had to check them off their list of candidates?

Way to pick the one year that is sandwiched by years he had the best class in the MAC. I don't know why you are arguing his recruiting success at WMU. Do you know what typical recruiting looks like for WMU? As for the coaches, who knows what kind of offers they had? I dunno what offers Linguist and Paup had either. As for Warriner, sure we could go after a guy like that, but your odds of keeping him long term are low.
I'm arguing the point that PJ's history proves he doesn't need the 3 departed coaches to achieve amazing recruiting results. From my perspective the WMU classes were not great. What does a typical WMU class look like?
The same in 2018 with the new coach as it did when PJ was achieving "great" classes...WMU is #75 in 2018. Marshall #74 And In 2015 it was #75 Marshall and #76 WMU. So WMU moved up a spot. So, it seems to me that's a typical WMU class...somewhere high 60's mid 70's...what do you think it is?
Again, I'm just asking...without the 3 departed coaches will MN be back to high 40's-50's or will we establish a new normal of high 30's? You are convinced we will be high thirties, low thirties. I got it. I'm not convinced.
I am wishful it happens but see signs it may not.
