Looks like replacing Bryce Paup.

Didn't Fleck promote Joe Rossi to that position?

Yes you are correct. Rossi is new DL Line coach. Paup was moved to "Pass Rush Specialist" few weeks ago, so assuming West is taking that spot?

Interesting hire if true, wonder who's spot he is taking.

Does anyone have an idea what is going on with PJ Fleck's coaching staff?

We lost Linguist, Warinner, and now Paup may be leaving. Is Paup leaving confirmed? Did he consider being moved to pass rush specialist a demotion?

How many assistance coaches are teams now allowed to have ion D1? I am confused as to the coaching alignments/assignments.

Here is a listing of current coaching staff from Gophersports:

1. Kirk Ciarrocca
Offensive Coordinator /
Quarterbacks

2. Robb Smith
Defensive Coordinator /
Linebackers

3. Kenni Burns
Running Backs

4. Brian Callahan
Tight Ends

5. Matt Simon
Wide Receivers

6. Bryce Paup
Pass Rush Specialist

7. Joe Rossi
Defensive Line

8. Rob Wenger
Special Teams Coordinator /
Outside Linebackers

9. Marcus West?

10. Clay Patterson?

Nothing official, but Paup is reportedly heading to the NFL.

If true, I think it's probably Fleck's opinion of helping his assistants take the next step in their career. That's plus a pay bump, and I wouldn't blame them, but it does suck. Hopefully, we can get some stability in the next few years. In the meantime, as long as Fleck continues to find good coaches, we should be fine.

We just don't want to lose key coaches especially the offensive and defensive coordinators..

I worry about the defensive coaches. We don't want to see a flip-flop. We pay attention to the passing/running game at the expense of defense.

I also worry who will be coaching the offensive line now that Warinner is gone.

Is Brian Callahan going to handle both the Offensive Line and the Tight Ends? Didn't PJ Fleck use a single set TE at WMU, and the other a pure blocking TE?

Patterson is the TE coach.

Asst coach movement is what happens in college football. Linguist was clearly a big blow, but I never really thought Paup and Warriner were long term fits, and don't really fit the culture of Fleck. Great coaches, but not surprising.

Rob Smith to the Patriots.

Would it be better if we had coaches that no one else wanted?

Not since the Brewster days have our assistant coaches been in such demand.
