There is no 247 profile yet, but I hope the staff is keeping an eye on Bastian Swinney from Edina. 6’6” about 260. All conference honorable mention. Started at right guard next to Q Carroll. I’ve watched him play for the past few years and he has a nasty streak and loves finishing his blocks. Absolute mauler.

Riley Mahlman, Lakeville South, 6-8 245

5 B1G offers....Minnesota, Bucky, Iowa, Nebraska, NW
(NW is the most recent)

Who knows where he will rank in the state, but it appears this might be the #1 prospect for '21.

...As far as my position at Minnesota, that decision will be decided on when I get there, but I'd prefer to be a quarterback."

Jackson is ready to transition back to quarterback after scoring 14 touchdowns as a wide receiver last fall, and put his recruiting behind him...

I’ll take him as a WR right now, and I’m sure he’s going to grow another few inches and pack on some weight then he might even be a QB in the future!.

Is there a 2022 thread up yet?

Seriously, I checked out the highlights from Jackson's freshman season (2017) on his 247 page. He played WR as a freshman. Looks to be a pretty talented kid. I don't know much about Naperville except that it's Bob Odenkirk's hometown, so I couldn't gauge the level of competition.

I think I read 50 catches, 900 yards and 14 TDs. Solid sophomore season!

per 247: 2021 standout Riley Mahlman on the Gophers radar early on

"Minnesota was super cool," 2021 Lakeville (Minn.) South offensive tackle / tight end Riley Mahlman said to GopherIllustrated. "The new facilities are top notch. We got to try on all the Gopher equipment which included the new uniforms and helmets. We got to see how a Minnesota football player actually lives by going to the practice and game fields. We checked out their weight room and their lifting coach. The campus tour gave us a sense of where things are. I also got to meet many possible future coaches. We even got to see the room where the players hangout. Overall it was a cool experience."

2021 Lakeville OL Mahlman feels really good about Minnesota
By Ryan Burns, 247 SPorts, Feb. 2, 2019

"I thought that the Minnesota visit went well today," 2021 Lakeville (Minn.) South offensive lineman Riley Mahlman explained to GopherIllustrated. "It was nice to talk with the Gopher coaches again. I talked a lot with head coach PJ Fleck, my recruiting area coach Matt Simon and offensive line coach Brian Callahan. Coach Callahan and I talked about how we were both doing and then more about my development as a player. He believes I'm progressing well and he saw that my weight is up from last year as I'm now 260 lbs."

"With coach Simon is was more casual, but with coach Fleck he was talking about my process coming up and wanting to get back in touch soon. My mom and dad like Minnesota most of all because it's close. All the facilities are very nice and new, and they also like the coaching staff. I feel really good with the connections I'm building with the Gopher coaches."

Mahlman doesn't have any other visits set at this time, as he's still fully entrenched in basketball season.

Here's hoping he stay a homer unlike Bryce Benhart and Quinn Carroll. It is a long time between now and 2021 NSD.

STrib: Justice Sullivan lands Gophers football scholarship offer

Big Ten football teams are lining up to woo Eden Prairie sophomore Justice Sullivan, with Iowa making a recent scholarship offer, and the Gophers adding theirs Thursday night.

Sullivan is the son of Jake Sullivan, who was a standout basketball player at Tartan and Iowa State and the subject of Chip Scoggins’ remarkable profile earlier this month in the Star Tribune.

Jake and his wife, Janel, adopted Justice from Ghana and have seen him grow into an ‘A’ student and multi-talented athlete. In track, he competes in the 100-yard dash, high jump and shot put. He started for Eden Prairie’s state runner up team as a 6-2, 215-pound defensive end.

He figures to have offers from across the country in coming months, so it'll be interesting to see where he eventually signs.
