This subject is not clear cut. There are many options that could be negotiated that shouldnít encourage illegal immigration to the US.
Why would you allow them to stay legally but not be citizens.....to the only country they know? They did nothing wrong; why punish them?

I donít consider it a punishment to be able to live in the US legally without concern for deportation unless they committed a serious crime since the US probably has a higher standard of living, more opportunity to improve themselves, less crime, less poverty, more educational opportunities, etc. than the country they immigrated from. Why would you consider that a punishment?

Also, giving citizenship incentivizes more illegal immigration and would contribute to the difficulties of idenfitying criminal illegal immigrants by spreading resources more thinly.

Illegal immigration is a political issue. The only way to diffuse the issue politically is to prevent it from being used as an issue that advantages one political party over the other. Granting voting rights to masses of illegals obviously advantages and broadens the voting base of one of the two major political parties over the other.

The average age of DACA recipients is 24. They will soon have their own children as US citizens, and in time, IF illegal immigration is controlled, the issue should continue to dwindle.

BTW, there are around 800K DACA recipients, but there are another 1.2 million illegals brought to the US as children that have not applied for DACA. This issue is bigger than is being presented by the Democrats. If you were to legalize all DACA eligible immigrants and the parents, several million illegals would need citizenship.

Where does compassion end and common sense begin? Giving citizenship to several million illegals would only increase illegal immigration as an issue.

Nahhh not buying it. There is more here than meets the eye. First and foremost these people did absolutely NOTHING wrong they should be citizens. The number of potential DACA AMERICANS is irrelevant, they should be allowed to be citizens. The reason they probably have not applied for DACA is obvious, understandable and should not be held against them.

Compassion and common sense should go hand in hand here. DACA Americans should be allowed to become legal residents......immediately.

Hereís what should be up for debate. Their parents; the ones who broke immigration law. How, when and if they can become legal immigrants.
