Shoulder injury.

Also, a little birdie says Gophers will have "turn the lights off" player intros starting with Illinois game. I'm cool with that. Current scoreboard intro is quite dull.

Intros are too long and do nothing to get the crowd ready for the game. Something shorter with some music that puts some energy into the barn would certainly help.

LOL, you care about introductions?! Go watch NBA teams. You'll be happier.

In the 70's and 80's the lights were turned down for intros. The players came up the steps and ran through a Goldy curtain. The 18000+ in attendance went absolutely crazy during those player announcements.

Agreed. It's an awkward few minutes when our intro starts after the opposing teams starting lineup. I'm glad to hear Hodger's Little Birdie tid-bit. We need some new and fresh ideas injected into the intro, and in-game atmosphere. Yes, games like Miami, Michigan State, etc. are electric by themselves, but most are not and any little bit helps.

Go Gophers!!

Interesting post. Have you seen the contributions SS provides, especially regarding scheduling and bracketology. I don't see how improving the atmosphere for the game is bad. Commentators talk how loud the Barn gets. If they can get it pumped up right away awesome. Maybe it helps the Gophers get off to a better start, maybe it does nothing. But it doesn't hurt.

Really sucks from Jackson's perspective. There was a lot of chatter about him around the NBA combine and came back with the idea of improving his draft stock but it's all gone completely left for him. On the bright side he has the chance to be a part of a really special Maryland team next year so maybe they'll make a run and he'll get bumped back up.

First I acknowledge and thank SS for the contributions. Second, I still find it funny that anyone cares about introductions. Just start the game already. My entertainment is the game being played, not the theatrics in the arena. I can't stand going to Vikings games, Wild games or Timberwolves games because of the canned hype. I also find the Saints games unbearable for the same reason. Just play the game.

I hear where you're coming from. I'm not a NBA guy. Also not a fan of all the manufactured noise that comes with pro games, but in the case of player intros the U could afford to spruce it up. Do that instead of staring at the scoreboard for 3 minutes for an intro we've seen over & over.

Isn't that what your cell phone is for? [emoji41]

Do you hate previews and foreplay as well? I'm with SS, let's add a little excitement to our intro (not necessarily a lot of time). The tipoff is almost unnoticeable in games against weaker opponents. At the very least play some good, loud pump-up music leading up.

I love the fact that you won't get your way on this. I hope you cry every game when the lights go off.

Jesus, STFU and go worry about something meaningful

Can't wait to see this. When i was a kid i loved the intros with all the lights out.

Also - no more having someone sing the anthem for us - the pep band and crowd singing is the best!

I'd make former Gopher football player Ross Ukkelberg the permanent or most often anthem singer. Great voice and you can tell how proud he is to come back to campus.

I love the fact you care so passionately. [emoji7]

Yeah, I like when the crowd sings along.

My biggest complaint and one I've sent many times to the University is the absolutely garbage halftimes. Record # of season tickets=record high revenue, yet we have below average dance groups and little kids playing at halftime. What happened to the Alexandria Aces? The Litchfield Dribbling Dragons? The Gymnastics team? ANYTHING???

I'd much much much rather see 4 random fans have to make a lay-up, free throw, 3 and half court shot in 45 seconds to win a $50 gift card than to watch another group of teenage girls dance. At least this is interesting to the crowd. Nothing kills the noise in the barn like a boring halftime.

You must hate all the uniforms and everything going on with the football team too. If you haven't figured out that the players love these little touches, you're living with your head up your...oh wait, obviously you are.

Wonder what the deal is there. He hasn't done it for quite a few years, has he? You know it's a big game when Ross is singing the national anthem.

Sorry, I just find it fun to poke the bear on issues that are entirely pointless. Continue with your passionate support of our Gophers and have a Happy New Year. [emoji322][emoji323]

Thanks for admitting to being a troll. At least you're honest. Happy 2018!

What happened to the fargo gymnastic team or the Red PANDA ? Those use to keep people in the seats. Maybe that is the answer, they cost more to have, nobody buys anything when they perform.

Could be. But then do a halftime shootout. Those are fun. Crowd gets into it. Everyone wants to see the trombone player with $100 to Holiday. No one cares about the current stuff.

FWIW, i tried to get some food at halftime of the game vs FAU. I spent 11 minutes in line then left because I didn't want to miss the thrilling second half. I had $40 worth of stuff to buy.

I'm sure the premium halftimes will be back for the conference games.

The lack of weekend games might hurt. Tough to hall down 100 kids from Fargo or Alexandria on a weeknight. But usually the halftime events are seriously upgraded in the conference season.

Nope, don’t need porn, but foreplay is nice! Maybe like spinning a ball ? on the end of a finger.
