It appears that California leads the way in where you'd want to pluck a starting QB out of for college. Former Cali HS QBs have the most starters in the NFL in 2017.
Four states account for half of the starting QBs in the NFL:
CALIFORNIA (6)
Tom Brady, New England Patriots – Serra (San Mateo)
Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders – Bakersfield Christian (Bakersfield)
Jared Goff, Los Angeles Rams – Marin Catholic (Kentfield)
Carson Palmer, Arizona Cardinals – Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita)
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers – Pleasant Valley (Chico)
Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs – Helix (La Mesa)
TEXAS (4)
Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints – Westlake (Austin)
Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals – Katy
Josh McCown, New York Jets – Jacksonville
Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions – Highland Park (Dallas)
OHIO (3)
Brian Hoyer, San Francisco 49ers – St. Ignatius (Cleveland)
DeShone Kizer, Cleveland Browns – Central Catholic (Toledo)
Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers – Findlay
VIRGINIA (3)
Mike Glennon, Chicago Bears – Westfield (Chantilly)
Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo Bills – Hampton
Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks – Collegiate (Richmond)
