It’s been four years since the Legends and Leaders divisions were scrapped and the B1G went to purely geographical divisions. The first three years were pretty evenly split regarding crossover games (including championship games), 27 wins for the East and 25 wins for the West. However, this season was decisively won by the East, 14 to 8. Perhaps the East domination predicted by many is starting to come to fruition. The fact the East has won all four championship games helps feed the perception of competitive imbalance.

The first few years of conference divisions were made more equal by the aftershock of sanctions at PSU and OSU, and the unusual depths Michigan experienced under RichRod and Hoke.

The disaster in Lincoln and the Kill/Teague,etc. drama at MN have hurt the West. Brohm, Frost and Fleck are solid coaches a lot of programs would like to have. They should improve the division quickly.

Honestly you could make any divisions you want and the division with Ohio State is going to have the balance of power in their division:

Ohio State
Minnesota
Purdue
Illinois
Rutgers
Maryland
Indiana

Michigan
Michigan State
Iowa
Wisconsin
Penn State
Northwestern
Nebraska

The top division is winning the conference 75% of the time

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Power will shift back and forth over time, though the east may always have a slight edge with OSU in their division.
